Advantages: sound product
Disadvantages: mess and thoughtless method of fitting
I read all the confusing reviews before asking the rep to call. To my surprise I found him very good, no hard sell and very little bull. At no time was the TV advert one free with each order mentioned
I explained I would not be ordering untill I had other firms prices to compare. Good idea he said, can I call you in a couple of weeks. He called back 2 weeks later fixed an appointment and returned to discuss prices. At full price it would be £38000.00 for the 26 windows and 1 door. Other firms had quoted a fixed £25000. and £1600. after a half hour chat we had negotiated a price of £10500 for all windows in our home with possible adjustment for one bay and a round window. After a full survey it was agreed that the £10500 would include everything. Three teams arrived on the due date and everything completed.
We supplied the 6 fitters with facilities tea/ coffee etc and cakes throughout the day.
The windows seem expertly fitted with just a few damaged wall and paper areas.
I do have some major issues with the fitters. With one exception all were nice people. Problem was that they gave little thought to our home and possible mess.
The carpet coverings used were extremely dirty so of little use. Windows at front and back of the house were removed at same allowing through draught so the entire house has to be cleaned of a heavy layer of dust. One thoughtless act was just before mid day they took out the kitchen windows after blocking off the sink unit then stopped for own lunch break. We can go without food for some time but as we care for a 1 year old it would have been expected that some consideration could be given. One room which is unfortuately the hardest to clean ( a craft room with huge amounts of special papers stored) was left full of mess and with window sill covered in dried mastic and lumps walked into carpet. Although we had covered everything the dust has permiated through, I have photographed to take issue with the firm as in this room and one bathroom no attempt had been made to clear the mess.
One last problem was the amount of screws dropped in our gravel drive. I have to date collected 47 all of which were potential car tyre punctures.
We fortunately had a conservatory we could use but I would never again allow a full home to be stripped of windows. We had originally been informed that it would be 2 teams taking 2 days. What actually happened was 3 teams on one day so the entire house was exposed to the elements.
I JUST AM AMAZED AS TO WHY FIRMS HAVE SENIOR MANAGEMENT WHO ARE UNABLE TO THINK OF THE CLIENTS POSSIBLE PROBLEMS.
TO SUM UP --- Product seems well made and sound fitting. We had expected some mess and had ourselves covered as much as possible but had never expected all front and back windows to be removed at same time. Utter disgust at the state our home has been left in. We did a quick check in some rooms with the forman before paying but realised to late that we should have been more observant
though with a very stressed baby to contend with and 3 vans outside revving up we felt under some pressure
Summary: I hope never again like this
