I should start by saying that we have not purchased anything from Safe Style, although that is their own fault.

Overall, we have had a negative experience of their practices, which I wanted to pass on.

Firstly, with respect to the "BOG OFF" offer- well we found there were too many caveats to allow them to squirm out of that - once they get you on the hook.

Having had my wife cold-called on the doorstep, we had their rep in the house the following afternoon. We agreed what we wanted and a quote. The quote was mysteriously close to the figure I was expecting to pay (luckily I had done some research and had the rep's call to head office on speaker phone). Anyways the quote was all-in for the complete survey and installation etc.

But.. then the hassle began. Having essentially fast-tracked to this stage, when the morning before we were not thinking about replacement (although the door needs replacing in the near future), we asked for a few hours to think about it. We were duly sorry that their salesman "wasn't going to make any money out of it" - although I rather suspect that is not the case- and our heartstrings survived.

At a given opportunity, the rep would gainsay the competition, even though we told him (honestly at that time) that we had not approached anyone else. I expressed that that was very negative and could go on forever as we trawl through every door and glazing company.

We were then repeatedly 'reminded' that we could still sign the deal there and then and pull out of it at any later stage. He stressed that he would throw in a free survey! (fnny that- the price given was already all-inclusive).

As there was no indication that the offer was limited in the short term, I repeatedly declined. After all, if it is possible to pull-out, why are they so desperate for me to sign up now anyway?

Well, they never called back that day. to see if we were interested. So basically, it was a take-it or leave it deal. They had obviously decided that their kirby-esque strategy had not worked. I would stress the rep was perfectly polite and amiable.

In the meantime I had arranged another quote (actually about 8% cheaper also- with no asking what price he had to beat) and agreed to go ahead.

Finally after 48 hours the rep's boss called back - and got the answer they would have got anyway that we weren't interested. They then tried to convince my wife to change her mind saying how easy it would be to cancel the order.

48 hours later... another call to my wife from the boss... what part of "no" do these guys not understand?

So, not impressed, and rather hoping that I get to answer the phone when they next call

Summary: Will never approach again for a quotation nor recommend them
