Last night I asked Safestyle to contact me to arrange a quote for two new doors. This morning I got a call from a pleasant enough bloke who arranged for someone to visit my house this evening. Very speedy, I thought, although I couldn't decide if it was a sign of efficiency or of desperation to make a sale.

Anyway, I drove to the house half an hour early (I haven't moved into it yet), and what do I find? The chap is already on the doorstep, no doubt wondering why the house is completely deserted (not to mention unfurnished).

I let him in and told him I wanted to look at the prices on a few doors and take away a brochure so my girlfriend (who will be sharing the house with me) and I can look through it.

"Sorry," he said, "I can't leave a brochure."

Can't leave a brochure? Nope, we have to choose the doors with the salesman breathing down our necks and tapping his foot. Thanks, but no thanks.

He was in and out in about two minutes flat. I expected him to be awkward, but I didn't expect him to be so spectacularly unhelpful!

Hiya and welcome to dooyoo - not a bad start there, but perhaps a little short in that you haven't actually used the product and can't comment fully.

I'd suggest that for your first couple of opinions you write them about things you love and/or use every day - like a hobby perhaps. It's much easier to write a glowing review of a product you like than a bad one of one you don't!

Read lots of opinions on the site and rate everything - people will recognise your name as a user and probably read more of your opinions too.

If you need a hand then let me know.

I'm hoping I was just unlucky with that guy. There's no way I'm making a decision which could potentially cost me thousands of pounds with the salesman looking over my shoulder!
