Warning!!!! Before using this company consider the following.... Do you love your house.... Your Garden.... Your furniture.... Your Carpets.... After signing up to a contract which was supposed to be with a "Quality" company, who not only sold us on the idea that they were the most caring and best, but that they also compared only to the best quoting Everest and other superior named German manufacturers amongst their equals.... also bad mouthing other local companies, saying they offered a poor product and used large quantities of mastik to stick their windows in... Who were we to argue... we bought every word, their product looked the bees knees so to speak. The Salesman signed us up and the windows were due to be fitted by their competent fitters, who we were told at the time worked for them (p.s. take no notice of the pretty pamphlet showing a couple of smart young men dressed in bright red safestyle overalls and the van embossed with their logo... well unless you have a very very active imagination, what you see is not what you get!) After cancelling the first date of installation, they then arrived a week later and in the words of the totally unqualified and health and safety unaware fitter (or bodger) "We are gonna go mental at it".... that was after 10 cigarettes and a dozen mobile phone calls. He then proceeded to rip out, and I do mean rip out... 8 windows, before even attempting to fit one of the replacement ones. We have two small babies, It was so cold in the house that we thought we would take them out to get some lunch, but said we would be back in an hour or so... When we got home at half two in the afternoon, they were packing up for the day, My partner went to have a look at the work they had completed and just couldn't believe his eyes... not only had they managed to walk mud and filth through all our rooms... obviously they had forgotten to read their leaflet abou
t how they come well equipped with dust sheets, they had used our vacuum cleaner and blown it up... they had left glass everywhere, our carpets were covered... even in the babies room there were splinters of glass and the cots even though pushed to the other side of the room had rubble and mortar in them. The windows were ruined, there were gaps in the rubbers and seals where they had used the wrong tools to take the glass out, and they had drilled and gouged pieces out of the frames even to the point of leaving holes for the wind to come in. One thing though they were qualified in using was a mastik gun, they had tried to mastik every detail of damage out with the stuff... it was almost embarrassing... the outside of one of our windows instead of having a seal had a two inch gap filled with... MASTIK We spent five minutes looking for the "mastik men and mastik cats and dogs.." We didn't find them though, only ample amounts of it in our upstairs carpets. After speaking to safestyle that night, explaining we were not happy at all with how the installation was going and that we wanted the manager to come out and see the property, bearing in mind our children couldn't even live in it. They agreed they would come out the next day. My partner who had taken holiday waited in and their representative didn't bother to turn up... We did try phoning their help line who are there to help us.... less said the better on that score... well I will say just one thing "retrain the useless cretins" Basically now I'm going to cut a long story short.... When they finally got their act together they sent three different people to view the damage... none of which obviously wrote any kind of report to their manager. Who finally turned up nearly two weeks later promising to correct not only the windows but also to replace the vacuum, the damage to our property clear the glass from the
r>garden and neighbours property, clean the carpets and replace our guttering.... as a goodwill measure... To date none of this criteria was met... sure they arranged on three separate occasions to come and put right the damage, but never turned up, never even phoned to say they were not coming, no apologies, explanations... We even had a Safestyle salesman cold calling asking if we needed any work doing on our house... after explaining the situation he then told us they should have offered us a free porch??? and how how his sister had her windows replaced by Safestyle and had no end of problems, one of them being she couldn't shut her front door and had to wait 48hrs for one of their team of engineers to come out and replace the lock. Great advert for the company that was. He also said they should have offered us a free porch??? So we are now going to employ another reputable company to correct the damage... probably one of the local companies that Safestyle chose to badmouth, we are also in communications with the Trading standards council.... We have not paid them a penny... although they owe us quite a few... Think twice whether you really want to deal with such a poor unsafe company. P.s. Would I recommend them to a friend for a £50.00 cheque, enemy's maybe.

- 01/07/03 I have so far had a very similar experience. We knew an employee who recommended us and I had a patio door fitted in November after a two week delay. Fantastic door & fitting, but then we noticed a crack in the frame. So we called, and called, and called. Eventually we got an engineer to confirm the door needed replacing. In February they came, after more delays. I reckon they were some U/E guys, who were on a quick buck with Safestyle. You employ Cowboys, Cowboy work is what results. The fitting was shocking to say the least. There was daylight between the bottom of the door and the floor. Any one could have ripped it off and broken in. And we could hardly close the door!!
Any way, they sent another team round after a letter of complaint, and some photos. These guys seemed "put out" to be doing this job and that I was being "Picky"??? Ahem £1000 is not picky.
They re fitted the door the best they could. I am sorry - the best they could is NOT good enough. The door still sticks, and is difficult for my wife to shut and lock.
I have just called to complain again, and we will see what happens (Won't we Mr Customer care man)
I will post the results later, - I have asked if it isn't rectified, I want a refund. Yeah right!!! :-o |

- 23/05/03 have you spken to the trading standards dept??? they were really helpful. We sent Safestyle two letters by recorded delivery refusing to let them back onto our premises and informing them they were in breach of their contract ... they never replied to either of them and we have heard nothing from them since. Well no actually, I had a phone call the other day asking us if we wanted a quote on having our windows replaced, nice to see they keep their records up to date, anyway we have had the work put right now by another reputable company, but my advice is DONT PAY THEM A PENNY!!!, they cannot force you to pay for anything less than the perfect windows they promised in the first place. |
