Advantages: the windows are good quality

Disadvantages: the way of fitting was terrible

I would like to comment that i am deeply disappointed by the apalling service i have received from Safestyle. My windows were supposed to be completed on the seventeenth of May, yet they are still not completed over ten weeks later! The main problem being that one of the bedroom windows was obviously not measured accurately, so when it was fitted it was too small by at least ten centimetres. Also on two other windows i was fitted with faulty openers which the window fitter was aware of. He said he didn't have any spares and that when they returned to sort out the other window they would also sort out the openers. The windowfitter rang to explain the situation with the other window and to order a new frame that would be the right measurement. He then told me i would only have to wait one week for it to be sorted. Four weeks later i still hadn't heard from Safestyle. So i rang to find out what was going on. The pathetic reason that i was given for the window being too small was that the paper that the measurements were written on somehow got "wet" and the measurements got mixed up. I was then told that the reason they hadn't fitted me with a new window was because they still hadn't heard from the manufacturer. Which is also another pathetic excuse as why couldn't they not get in touch with their suppliers and find out what the hold up was??? On top of that when the windows were fitted the fitters had to get on top of a flat roof i have on top of my extension. They did not use crawling boards (which with common sense i assumed would be used) and i now have a crack directly below the window in the roof which is leaking into my bathroom. Five weeks later i eventually was finally contacted to say they were going to refit the window and that this time they would use crawling boards (although as the damage was already done they wouldn't of made much difference). But then after the fitters had set up ready to fit the window i was then inform
ed that the new window was now five centimetres too big!!! I was obviously by now somewhat frustrated (to say the least). The windowfitter was also in disbelief at the situation and of the fact that i'd already waited five weeks for the window to arrive. He then told me that he'd rang the company and again ordered another window and yet again i was told that this would only take a week. Yet still four weeks after this (nine weeks since the supposed fitment date) i had to contact Safestyle again as i hadn't heard anything. This time i was told that in fact the frame i was waiting for had in fact not been ordered at all! It has now been agreed that Safestyle are going to send out an engineer to assess the damage to the roof and remeasure the window, however not until the sixth of September. I hope that this time it will all finally be sorted out but with the total incapability Safestyle have already shown i doubt it will be. I find it hard to belief that a company like this can show such utter incompetent ness and i think that Safestyle obviously need to review their methods of customer service. It has been demonstrated to me that as they've been paid for the job they simply don't care that it was totally disgraceful. Especially as all the windows are supposed to be covered with a "ten year guarantee", what use is that if the windows haven't even been completed yet???

with the ratings they are receiving on here and in the National papers, i feel they probably will be out of business in the very near future - well lets hope so anyway... they know nothing about double glazing and give the industry a bad name.... they cheat people out of money and hound them to sign up.... lets hope they don't make it to the end of the next financial year, or even more importantly that all their poor customers live through their experiences with such a dangerous, second rate, pathetic excuse of a company.

good luck

Welcome to dooyoo! Good op, although paragraphs might help! Sorry to hear about your window experience - hope it's sorted soon! Enjoy the site!

Welcome to dooyoo. I have learned over the years that a good local man tends to be the answer. Unfortunately these larger firms can use unskilled contractors for their jobs. Hence the disappointed customers.
