Advantages: Absolutely none
Disadvantages: Poor workmanship, service is non-existent, Changing contract details with informing the customer
After reading various comments about the level of poor"service"provided by Safestyle UK, I can only say, unfortunately that my own personal experience does "live up" to those comments and I really wish that I have read about the feedbacks before I signed the contract. Simple facts: I have contracted with them to install 5 sets of windows and my front door last November; I have asked for the windows and doors to be done on a specific day before Christmas The answer was "yes" as long as I paid 50% deposit Thinking that it was a reputable national company, I paid up (how stupid) They've done the survey, and nothing was conveyed to me in terms of the design I have chosen A week after the survey, they rang me up and asked to change the design for technical reasons, something that they have never explained and similar to someone else's experience the surveyor hung up on me Then they said they could not manufacture the door in time (even though it was over a month between the contract signing and the installation day) and asked me to split a single contract into 2, postpoing the installation of the door. When I mentioned about the verbal agreement and the 50% deposit, the pre installation team staff just intimidated me with some small prints on the contract They installed the window, and two of them were not according to what was being agreed . I discovered the surveyor changed the design with obtaining permission from me first The installers were scruffy, and left dirt marks over the walls Problems started to surface the day after the installation - side panel popped out, two nails were put through one of the mullions (and covered up by silicon sealant, yes, I agreement with many of you, they do use a lot of silicon sealant to cover up). There were gaps that I can see through to the outside from inside... I called their af
tersale service team, which sent out an engineer shortly, and complied a report reflecting various defects and Safestyle will undertake to make good the defects. Nothing was heard from Safestyle anymore. I rang them on one occasion and was told that it takes time to manufacture the replacement part. I rang them after two weeks and was told that they have actually lost the engineer report (so they were lying on the first call then). I wrote to them proposing dates for the repair work to be done and gave them (for the I don't know how many times) my contact details, a letter came back from the customer service department saying that they have received my "complaint letter" and someone will contact me within 14 days ... Given the experience of the windows installation, I actually rang them in December saying that I wish to reconfirm the design of the front doors and don't mind if they could send someone to my address to discuss and verify things all over again. I called them early Jan 04 and was told that someone will contact me in a few days time... Just one conclusion: in the light of my experience, avoid them like the plague. Similar to many of you, I have got a 5 page complaints letter waiting to go out to their managing director if things don't improve. One more thing needs mentioning is for some reasons after they have done their surveys (both before the installation and the one after the installation, they never leave you with a copy, learning lesson from the first survey - when the surveyor changed the contract design, I had to do a copy on my fax machine when the aftersale service engineer came out to inspect the defects).
