Advantages: They smell gorgeous, leave skin lovely and soft
Disadvantages: Expensive
Time for a confession. I've been buying from QVC again. I had been determined not to spend any more money on beauty products but unfortunately I snapped and ended up placing an order for some nail varnish I really didn't need. It was a few days later when checking the status of my order online that I spotted a set of L'Occitane products. I have wanted to try L'Occitane for ages, but it's expensive and none of the sets I'd seen previously seemed to offer good enough value for me to part with any cash. This one however, contained fourteen products for just £21 and many of the products were the ones I'd been lusting after for ages! Despite the fact I was still feeling guilty about my nail varnish splurge, I found myself placing an order - after all this was too good to miss, and as I predicted it is now sold out.
When my kit arrived, I went through sniffing each product. Although all of the fragrances were gorgeous, the one that really stood out for me was the Cherry Blossom. I absolutely adored the scent from the moment I first sniffed it - it just smelled gorgeous and girly and I was so excited I couldn't wait to try it out.
Although I actually wanted to try the Cherry Blossom shower gel first, I currently have two soaps and a shower gel on the go in my bathroom, and so decided to use the caressing bath pebble first instead.
A bath pebble is basically a round, flat, pebble-shaped product which when dropped into the bath, dissolves, releasing an amazing cherry blossom fragrance into the water. Nowhere on the packaging did it mention what benefits this product would have on the skin, but I loved the scent so much, that just adding its adorable fragrance to the water would be more than enough for me!
Because mine was part of a 'try me' kit, I just got the one pebble, which was wrapped in plastic. Unfortunately though, unlike the Lavender fragranced bath pebbles L'Occitane also sell, these one's aren't sold individually - instead, they come in a tin of eight. The tin looks quite sweet and is decorated with the same pink and peach coloured label as the other L'Occitane cherry blossom products.
The pebble is around 2 inches in diameter but only around ¼ of an inch thick. It is a pale peach colour, which is flecked with pink, giving it a pretty appearance and it has a chalky feel to it.
The instructions for use, were simply to drop this into bath water to create 'a lovely and fragrant moment of well-being and relaxation'. I ran the bath, and dropped it in, as instructed. It sank to the bottom of the bath and started to release a plume of pink fizz into the water. Whilst it fizzed away, it also made a bit of a crackling sound which was unusual!
I'd say it took just less than a minute to dissolve completely, and it turned the water a very slight pinky orange colour - it was a very subtle change in colour, but most definitely there.
The scent of this product is amazing. It's very fresh and sweet - definitely a feminine scent - and I would say that it's really versatile and would appeal to most age groups. I know sometimes when I hear that a product contains cherry, my immediate thoughts are the smell of cherry flavoured fizzy drinks, but as this is made from cherry blossom, rather than the fruit, it is more a floral fragrance and very delicate.
Once in the water, although I could definitely smell the sweet cherry blossom scent, it was not as strong as perhaps I would have expected it to be. The scent lingered in the water, but I could not constantly smell it, rather I would get a whiff of it whenever I moved.
One thing I was surprised (and pleased) about, was that I could feel that there was a slight change in the water once I added the pebble. It's hard to describe, but it was as though the water had softened slightly, which reassured me that this was doing something for my skin.
On getting out of the bath, I actually started to notice the scent of this more! It stayed on my skin for absolutely hours, as well as having filled my bathroom with a gorgeous scent. Something I wasn't expecting, was how soft my skin felt. It was incredibly smooth and lovely.
The bath pebbles are not particularly cheap. They cost £18 for 8 pebbles, so probably not something you would use every day. When I first saw the price of them, I was slightly shocked, but realistically that works out at £2.25 each, which is around the same price I would pay for a Lush bath product, so perhaps they're not all that bad value after all.
For anyone who loves the L'Occitane Cherry Blossom scent as much as I do, these are well worth trying. Given the price, I think it unlikely that I would buy these for myself, however if anyone wants to give me them as a gift, you know where I am! They smell amazing, and left my skin feeling beautiful. What more could you ask?
