For those who have read my previous nail varnish reviews you will understand that I am very hard on my hands, for reasons I have yet to understand. This not only affects my nails but also my hands which tend to get very dry and almost scaly after regular washing up, and going from a warm room to the cool outside rather often.

I was fortunate enough to receive a box of L'Occitane goodies this year from my generous brother which contained a tube of the L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream and must admit that having used this hand cream have not looked back!

The Product ~

This hand cream comes packaged in a 150ml silver foil tube which has a small blue screw top lid for easy application. This hand cream is simple to look at, and indeed is just decorated with a simple brown paper label which illustrates the L'Occitane logo.

Upon unscrewing the label you can see why this product is more expensive than some. The hand cream is rich and creamy and you will find that a little goes a long way. The best feature of this cream is the smell which is highly scented with honey and almond scents mingled with the shea butter fragrance.

Ingredients ~

The joy of L'Occitane products is that they contain virtually all natural ingredients. This hand cream is no different and is particularly effective as it contains 20% shea butter within. A look on the label will also show that it contains Marshmallow and Rosemary.

Price and Availability ~

A 150ml tube of this hand cream can be bought from all good L'Occitane stores for £17.50, a bit expensive you might say but the price is made up for with the lasting results and the fact that a little does go a long way. It can also be bought online from the same retailer.

Results ~

As mentioned, I have very dry hands which means that I suffer with tight skin which can at times become sore. I generally find hand creams leave your hands sticky and oily and do not fully saturate the skin before your hands next need washing.

This hand cream was completely different. Upon applying a small dollop of cream and rubbing it in my hands instantly felt moisturised and the skin was visibly plumper. The cream was very quickly absorbed into my skin meaning that I did not have that slightly sticky feeling. Indeed after a day of regular use my hands felt much better and the dry skin patches had gone. I have since been using a touch of the product every day to 'top up' the moisture.

Not only did my hands become smoother but they smelt good too. I almost needed an excuse to regularly lift them up to my face to inhale the delicious smell.

Another great feature of this product is the packaging which although rather plain is highly practical. The tube is small enough to fit in the smallest of handbags whilst the tube can be rolled up rather like a tube of toothpaste to ensure that not a drop of cream is wasted.

Overall this is a brilliant product with great results and comes highly recommended, particularly as a gift for that person who has everything.
