Advantages: lathers well, soft, moisturised skin

Disadvantages: quite pricey

As you may have noticed from my reviews, I like my bath products! At the moment I have several different products on the go - soaps, shower gels, scrubs, and I noticed that everything I'm using at the moment is quite highly fragranced. Whilst sometimes this is fine, sometimes I find that the scents of my shower gel, body lotion or perfume will clash, or other times I just want something a bit more subtle.

Wanting to use my new cherry blossom perfume, which is quite a subtle fragrance, I looked through my array of bath and shower gels for something that would be gentle enough not to overpower it. The most suitable, it seemed was my L'Occitane Shea Butter Shower Cream, which I had bought as part of a set from QVC.

Made with fairly traded Shea Butter which is made from the fruit of West African Shea trees, this shower cream combines intense moisturisation with a gentleness that makes it suitable for even sensitive skin. Many a time I have seen the presenters or models on QVC say that they use this product on their children, as its so gentle on their delicate skin, whilst not being too highly perfumed.

This shower cream can be used on both hair and body, although I must admit I have never used it on my hair, and have no intention to do so, therefore I unfortunately cannot give any insight on how this product is as a shampoo.

The bottle I have is a very small (35ml) trial sized one, but as I'm sure you can all see from the photo provided, it would usually come in a tall rectangular bottle with dark blue lid and label. Now, although my little bottle was slightly different, one thing that it has in common with the full sized bottle is the lid. The lid is plastic and has a flip top cap, which is attached by a very thin strip of plastic. I had thought this looked quite flimsy, and it did not look like it would last very long, but so far it is holding out quite well. Even so, I might have reservations about the lid of the larger bottle which will have more uses, therefore more time for the flimsy plastic to weaken.

The shower cream is a pearly white colour and has a very gentle scent. It's a subtle fragrance, and smells very clean and fresh, although does not have a soapy scent. I have always used this with a shower puff, as I find that way I can make shower gels and creams last longer, and this produces a good lather.

I find the lather you get with this product is much creamier than with most shower gels I have used, and it feels very luxurious on the skin.

Only a tiny amount of the product is needed per use - as mentioned I always use a shower puff to make it go further. I am always a bit sceptical when I watch QVC and they say that these expensive bath products are economical as you use less than with most cheaper products, but as I said I only have a 35ml bottle, and so far have gotten five uses out of it, and still have three quarters left, so I would imagine the full sized 250ml bottle would last a fairly long time.

After using this, my skin feels lovely and soft, and fairly moisturised, to the point I don't feel the need to use body lotion. As I said the scent is subtle, but you can still smell it on the skin - it gives more of a clean scent, than anything else, and as I said the smell is gentle enough that it will not overpower any perfumes or creams you may wish to use afterwards.

A 250ml bottle of this will set you back £12 from www.beautyexpert.co.uk. This is fairly pricey, but as mentioned above, you can get away with using only the tiniest amount each time, so hopefully it will last longer than cheaper products.

I really liked this product, and when my teeny bottle runs out, I'd like to get some more. The main downside for me is the price, as it is on the expensive side for an everyday product, however it would make a lovely gift, and if anyone want's to buy me a bottle I will not object!!

Summary: A luxurious Shea Shower
