L'Oreal Triple Active Multi-Protection Moisturiser
by LucksterMango
I found L'oreal Triple Active Day Multi-Protection Moisteriser on offer and decided to treat myself to this promising looking item instead of buying the cheapest product on the skincare shelves as I usually do. The box had soft, subtle colours, suggesting a moisteriser that would be gentle on the skin and I personally preferred the ... simple looking design as I felt that I wasn't paying more money for the packaging but for the quality product inside. A little to my disappointment, the little white jar inside the box only contained a measly 50ml of moisteriser, but of course, luxury goods like to come in small amounts.
Triple Active Day is aimed towards normal and combination skin and although I consider myself to have oily skin, the product didn't cause any adverse effects nor did it exacerbate the problems that I have with my skin type.
I always use a facial wash in the morning which leaves my face squeaky clean but a bit on the dry side, and I treat this with a moisteriser. The Triple Active Day absorbed quickly and left my skin feeling silky and hydrated in the mornings, I didn't even need to use a lot as it spread very smoothly over a lot of my face. I didn't find it heavy or greasy at all and it held eyeshadow and both kohl and liquid eyeliner very well, even without a foundation. The moisteriser was ever so lightly scented, which sat well with me as I'm not one for heavily fragranced creams, and I couldn't smell it at all after application. At the end of the day, I would still be able to feel the silky layer on my face, protecting my pores from the city pollution and it washed off easily without any need for soap.
I didn't feel that I was anymore radiant with the added Vitamin E and ceramide, but I was glad for the UV filter as I'm quite concerned about the damaging effects of sun exposure. These extra ingredients clearly add to the price but I don't feel the radiant ones are justified since I didn't perceive any difference even after using the whole jar.
Overall, I was happy with the quality and if I ever find it on offer again I would buy it; I'm just not prepared to pay full price for such a small jar. I gave it 3 stars here, but it's more of a 3.5. Read the complete review |

L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream
by thehonesttruth
Although I'd heard of BB creams, I'd never tried one until I received a free sample of Nude Magique in the post, which impressed me enough to make a purchase of a full sized tube for myself. This comes in two shades, light and medium. The sample I was sent was in medium, which was too dark for my skin - so how come I still ended up so ... impressed that I went on to spend £9.99 on a full sized tube?
This cream comes in a nice smart tube, that can be stood on it's flat cap, which I love, as all the product goes to the bottom and dispensing is easy. I like to use my fingers to blend this, but you can use a sponge, and a very gentle squeeze of the tube will get this rather thin cream moving. Now, you only need a little bit to start with (and of course, you can always squeeze more out of the tube if you need to, but you can't put it back in if you take out too much.
Take a look at it first though. Something looks a little wrong here. I'm not being funny but... it's lilac. Are we quite sure the right tube has been squeezed here? Yes we are, bizarrely the colour of this cream is a slightly greyish pale lilac colour, not at all the colour you'd expect to be smearing over your face. It was at this point in the process that I had to weigh up the risk. I could abandon the process now, since after all they seem to have put the wrong product in the tube, or I can chance it, smear it all over, and end up looking like an anaemic member of the blue man group. I compromised - I put a tiny dab on my eyelid - nobody would question a bit of lilac eyeshadow. The minute I began to blend though, the cream changed before my eyes into a creamy beige colour, the same colour in fact as any ordinary foundation.
This does smooth in very easily, and although the shade I had in my trial (the medium) was way too dark for my skin, I could immediately see the effect it had on my skin. My freckles seemed less prominent, a couple of minor facial scars were concealed, the bags under my eyes were gone, as was the dry bit just under my chin, and the coverage looked wonderfully even with a nice matte finished. With one product, I looked the way I normally do after applying a primer, a concealer, an under eye illuminator, a touch of moisturiser, a foundation, and a powder. This cream seemed to do all those jobs on me, giving me an almost flawless finish, which, considering I'm usually absolutely rotten at getting that naturally-great-skin look, was brilliant.
I was even more impressed when this finish (to which I merely added a little blusher and eyeshadow) lasted me for a good 8 hours when out and about, without any need to reapply at all.
I really like this product. I wouldn't normally spend £10 on a single item of makeup unless it was something that was a treat, rather than for daily use. But, I'm happy to spend the tenner on this - not only does it make my life easier, saving me time in the morning, and my makeup bag lighter, but I just love the way it makes me look. 5 stars.
