L’Oreal Couleur Experte: Protective Multi-tonal colour system – Colour + harmonised highlights. I normally dye my hair every month or two (I get bored very easily, and changes in hair colour are less offensive to my boyfriend than me getting more piercings or a tattoo!). I’d seen the adverts on TV and the highlights looked really prominent and their hair looked luscious so I thought I’d try it out. My first problem with this product is that I tried to find it on the internet and failed! L’Oreal is French and so whereas I was searching for L’Oreal Colour Expert the results were coming back with nothing because it is spelt Couleur Experte. Minor problem though, and if ... OK, I'll admit it. I'm only 30 but I have grey hairs - and quite a lot of them (thanks Mum, great genes). This was fine when I could afford my regular visits to the hairdresser every 6-8 weeks for highlights, but since my budget drive started this year, these visits are off the cards and when the blonde highlights began to grow out, exposing my natural dark brown colour - and lots of grey interlopers - something had to be done, and urgently. It was time to turn to the bottle, and after some umming and ahhing over the different varieties in my local Sainsbury's (who knew there were so many different hair dyes?), I finally plumped for L'Oreal Couleur ... My hair was naturally dark brown almost black looking but in the sun would shimmer a little red. I didn’t have plans to dye my hair but I received L’Oreal Couleur Experte (3.54: Chocolate Cherry – as pictured) for free and after careful consideration decided to give it a go. This was my first attempt at dying my hair and even weeks on I’m growing unhappy with the result… lucky it’s growing out! The picture on the box doesn’t actually look too appealing. Obviously the models hair has been straightened but it still looks a bit of a mess and the result of my hair looks nothing like hers does which is visibly misleading for anyone who does buy it based on the box. ... Well seeing as though each time I try a new hair dye, it mysteriously disappears from shop shelves forever, I am constantly searching for new ideas to keep my red hair … red! And once I saw this particular product in the shops and on the tv, well it was too much for this gal (yes there is such a thing as the advertiser’s dream – and here I am!). KM had to have it! As my hair has now been cut and is looking half way decent for a change, I decided to dye it last weekend. Firstly I’m going to warn you now. This is pretty dang time consuming. It took me nearly 2 hours and that’s without drying it. So be prepared to set aside a goodly part of your day/evening. Will ... Read the complete review

I have been going grey since my early 20's and subsequently took to dying my hair and have been doing so for around 20 years. I have therefore used alot of the available home products on the market. L'oreal colour expert (on the box it is spelt couleur experte) has become my firm favorite and I have been using it for the past 18 months very succesfully. This hair colouring system is a multi-tonal permanant colourant. It is a two step system, a base colour to which you add highlights. It comes in a large box and carries the usual warnings about performing a skin test 48 hours before you use it, I must admit I dont do this ... Read the complete review
