Advantages: Good consistency, absorbency and price and has improved look and feel of my skin

Disadvantages: Not keen on tightening sensation, but I suppose that means its working!

The latest in my search for a good quality, effective and reasonably priced day cream, L'Oreal's (new formula) Revitalift Day Cream cost me £12.71, less a £5 money off voucher at Boots.

The cream comes in a stout 50ml pump-action bottle and professes to be both anti-wrinkle and firming thanks to its magic ingredients - Pro-Retinol A and Elastin (I'm a bit dubious). It is also SPF15, which I do rate in a moisturiser, being fair-skinned.

The bottle has a plastic cap (which I will break/lose within a week) and I almost fall at the first hurdle, until I realise you need to remove the little red plug - duh!

My first impression is that the amount that squeezes out is quite generous and thick and has a pleasant smell - not unlike Nivea. It applies very well and I don't even need a second pump to cover my whole face, which is great. (I was really annoyed by my last purchase, also reviewed, which took half a dozen pumps and needless to say didn't last long!) It absorbs quickly and feels light, whilst creamy. I am so far impressed.

The result is that my skin feels softer and a little taut. If I'm honest, I'm still not too sure about all these skin tightening products, it's not a sensation I enjoy, but I may need to adapt as everything begins to sag and wrinkle - I blame motherhood!

I will persevere as this is the best I've found yet in this price range and I am pleased with the results so far.

On a personal note, I think I just still miss my Clarins :( - 15 years, it was my longest love affair to date, but I'll get over it....eventually (and will try to stop mentioning it in my reviews for other products!) :)

Summary: Exceeded expectations - lives up to its claims!
