Advantages: Hold hair perfectly in place, but brushes out easily
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other brands
Elnett Hairspray is made by L'Oreal and is the one in the gold coloured tin with the integrated spray top.
You need to break off the white tab before use.
It looks a little old fashioned, I've been using this for 20 years and I don't remember it ever changing its packaging - it looks kind of retro on my bathroom shelf as if features a lady with a rather bouffant hairstyle.
No matter what other hairsprays come out on the market, this is the only one I ever pickup, it does a great job and smells fantastic and reminds me of my gran - it was her favourite too.
The hairspray is available in:
- 400ml (around £5.89)
- 200ml (£3.50 - £4.00) and
- 75ml (for handbags at around £1.95)
from all the usual places like Boots, supermarket, Superdrug, John Lewis etc.
It's often available on offer at Boots, so I usually wait until then and get 2 of the 200ml for £5 and snap up the points too.
I'd say a can will last me a round 3 months, using it everyday.
Depending on your hair type, you can choose from normal strength, extra strength, supreme hold, volume extra and diamond extra shine. I always go for normal and I find that suits me perfectly - I cannot comment on any of the others as to be honest it's the only one I've tried.
Elnett offers a really long-lasting hold, but the beauty of it is that it keeps my curls crisp rather frizz, but also brushes out really easily owing to its "ultra-fine, micro diffused spray".
The directions say to spray from 30cm away and that's what I do, generally on the top. Made the mistake of tipping my head over and spraying and ended up with a helmet once.
My sister also uses this and it's great for backcombing to create a hair-up style.
It smells gorgeous too, expensive and hair salon like. I can often still smell this in my hair at the end of the day - utterly fab.
A little more expensive than some brands on the market, but hairspray is something that I don't compromise on.
Summary: Utterly fab
