~Elnett - The hairspray that still holds firm~
*********************************

The Elnett range of hair care products are a group of hair lacquers or hair sprays which have been specially formulated by L'Oreal to cope with the needs of todays modern hair styles. In the past when I was a true fan of the the range of products I most often used the Super Firm Hold Hair Spray from the Elnett range. I used my Super Hold Firm Elnett on a daily basis and seemed to need an ever increasing stream of the product to keep my style in place as fashion at the time dictated. I recall that I bought a can of Elnett almost every single week when bigger bolder hair styles were 'IN' and my Super Firm Hold Elnett could keep a style fresh (as long as I didn't try to run my fingers through my hair as I feared that may break them!) and new for an entire day with no maintenance at all needed once the Elnett had worked its magic.

Even though my super duper Elnett certainly held my style in place rather like quick acting cement, it was a devil to brush out and often left a very nasty white residue on my hair meaning I had to wash my hair daily when wanting to re style it, which added to the time needed to get ready to go out. Since then the range has been vastly updated and L'Oreal now say that the hair products in the Elnett range have the ability to be brushed out leaving no nasty after effects at all. The Elnett range is sold all over the world and is a brand name recognised by hair spray users near and far, with recent advertising which features Cheryl Cole (or whatever her last name is at the moment as I am not au fait with all this celebrity business) the range is still looking as high profile as it ever was, making it a first choice for many hair spray users young and old who may want a hair spray product that is tried and tested.

~Can Elnett still hold off the competition?~
*********************************

There have been so many new comers to the hair care world since Elnett hit the shelves that competition is fierce, with celebrity stylists trading their hair care wares which are pitched at prices that make them slightly more expensive to buy than many of the cheaper end products they are out selling. The Elnett range has had to keep up with the times to compete with these products which has resulted in L'Oreal making their Elnett hair products more up to date and bringing them in line with what people want now. This meant that when I was looking for a can of hair spray to use for an 'up do' for a change I headed off to see what was on offer from my trusty old favorite brand.

Once in store I was faced with a number of buying options which included the Elnett Satin Normal Strength product for a simply styled easy hold finish, the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine product which promised a glossy finish within a hair spray, the Elnett Satin Very Volume product that was seemingly aimed at bigger more volume seeking styles, the Elnett Satin Absolute Extreme Hold product which was quite possibly the equivalent of my old favorite (which in days gone by would have been my first choice amongst these hands down) and finally a Cheryl themed sassy pink toned spray can which near enough promised everything except super stardom if I bought it (which I didn't as it wasn't what I wanted).

~What did you go for?~
******************

In the end I plumped for the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine product as I felt is seemed to hold the most promise based on my requirements, as I wanted a good amount of hold with a super glossy finish that would suit what I had in mind. Once I had my can of Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine I paid the nice sales assistant £3.50 for a 200ml sized gold toned can of Elnett which looked almost exactly as I remembered the range of products to look like. Once ready to use the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine product I made sure to read the blurb about it and then tried out the spray to see how well it worked.

After a light pressure on the spray applicator I ended up with a very fine mist of Elnett in all the right places which smelled almost exactly as I remembered, which I feel is like a cross between the Dune and CK Obsession fragrances. This heavy scent does take your breath a way a little when the spray is first applied, although it does seem to die down more quickly than I remembered when using my trusty Super Firm Hold version in the good old days. The promised shine effect that I hoped I would get from the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine product wasn't as good as I hoped for although to give the product credit I did see some shine which was much better than the slightly matt cardboard type effect that I often ended up with in the past.

~Summary and rating~
*****************

In use I found the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine Hair Spray managed to hold my 'do' in place for the time I needed it to, which I found was good considering I hadn't opted for the full on super duper Absolute Extreme Hold product and had picked out the version that promised a glossy finish instead. I found that the next day I was able to brush through my hair with almost no trace of the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine product remaining which I felt was a real bonus although I did feel that my hair had a slightly dryer texture than it would normally. Other than that the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine Hair Spray worked well enough and I feel it didn't let me down at all which was quite pleasing.

As far as rating the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine product that I used I feel that is merits a 3 star product rating as it did work well enough, although I feel it isn't some thing I would use more often than every now and then, as I no longer need a hair spray product on a daily basis. I have not given the product as many stars as it may have had as I feel that it still seems to have that same old fragrance that I never truly liked very much and I feel it would have been nicer if that had not been there. On the plus side I do feel that the Elnett Satin Diamond Hold and Shine Hair Spray offered reasonable value based on how it performed and I would possibly buy it again should I need to do so. The spray was a nice fine mist that didn't sit in heavy clumps on my hair and it was easier to brush out than the Elnett I used to buy in the old days which is an improvement.

Summary: Holds your style well
