Advantages: It holds my hair in position.
Disadvantages: Too strong a fragrance gives me a headache. Makes my hair feel synthetic.
I use hairspray whenever I go to work because I have to put my hair up (I'm a nurse) and my hair is so fine and fly away that if I don't spray it then it ends up all over the place after about an hour. I have used Elnett Satin Hairspray on a number of occasions - and I'll say upfront that my overall impression is not that favourable. I have heard a lot of good things about Elnett Satin Hairspray and so I'm not sure whether it's just my hair type or what - but for me it really didn't work too great.
The hairspray comes in a distinctive gold can with a white top which incorporates the spray nozzle which is used by gently depressing it. When you first buy it, there is a tab that needs to be pulled out before you can use it which I assume is a safety mechanism to ensure that the product has not been accessed prior to purchase as there is no cover to allow the top to be sealed. A 400ml can costs £5.70 from Tesco, which is about the middle of the road price for the hairsprays on the market.
Using the Elnett Spray is standard for all hairsprays that I've ever used. I shake the can and then hold the can slightly away from my hair and depress the nozzle until the spray is emitted. The spray comes out in a fine mist and comes out in quite a wide cloud so that the whole of my hair is covered equally. Initially my hair feels a little tacky and sticky, but after a while this dissipates and if I touch my hair it then feels really synthetic and plasticky. I just hate the way it makes my hair feel - and when my hair feels bad it tends to put me in a bad mood! I also find the fragrance is quite strong and unpleasant and I find that it gives me a headache if I wear it.
Although it does keep my hair in place for the duration of the time that I use it, as soon as I have finished my shift I have to go home and wash it all out because I just can't bear to have it in my hair a moment longer. I just really don't get on with it at all and have now stopped wearing it altogether.
Overall, I just don't like any hairspray really, but I particularly don't like Elnett Extra Strength Spray because of the fragrance and the way it makes my hair feel.
Summary: Can't wait to wash it out of my hair.
