Advantages: Good hold, nice tin, light spray, brushes out
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive
L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray has been famously advertised by many singers and actresses (and Cheryl Cole, mwahaha) notably Penelope Cruz, who advertise it as a strong hold hairspray for all types of hairdo, up and down, yet gentle enough to be brushed out of the hair.
I'd say Elnett is probably slightly more expensive than my usual brand of hairspray, Bristows, which I buy from Poundland! Elnett on the other hand is £4 for a 200ml bottle (or thereabouts depending on where you buy it from) but as I was going to a wedding and was having my hair down I wanted a strong holiding hairspray without it looking solid, so I bought this knowing I'd probably go back to Bristows for my every day hairspray and keep this as more of a special occasion use hairspray. It's available pretty much everywhere - Superdrug, Boots, Amazon, most supermarkets, but it isn't something you generally see in cheap shops like Home Bargains.
The tin is lovely - a burnished gold with a line drawing of a woman, and the Elnett name at the top. The cap on mine is actually brown, it's white here in the picture.
So, once you have your hairdo - soft curls, a chignon, you name it - you lightly spray the Elnett all over your hair. It's a fine mist, not sticky, and has no real scent to it. I found that it held my down do well, no stray flyaway hairs, and the curls weren't weighed down by the holding spray.
When it came to the end of the night I always make sure to remove my make up and brush out my hair, and I always find with my cheaper brand that I have flat and sticky hair in the morning, but with Elnett I did find that it brushed out well and the next day I didn't have flat greasy hair. I do wash it every day but the day after using Elnett it's not as vital to do it the minute I get up unlike my cheaper brand. It is clean enough that you can use a dry shampoo if you're in a rush so if you're travelling for a special night out and pushed for time then it might be a good idea to use Elnett the night before and a dry shampoo the next morning.
Overall I do think it's a very good hairspray with plenty of hold for all types of hairstyle which holds the style without setting it like a rock and making your hair heavy and sticky. It's not one I'll use every day for budget reasons but I will use it for special occasions as it is a noticeably nicer hairspray in my opinion. I often make little hampers for people for Christmas and I'd certainly put this in a little pamper hamper as it does feel a bit more special than your run of the mill hair spray.
Overall I do highly recommend L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray, it's not stupidly expensive, it works well and it brushes out very well, too. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed (and I'll try not to end this review with...you're worth it...well I tried!!)
Summary: A good luxury spray
