Advantages: Really does get your hair clean
Disadvantages: Lousy packaging
I started using L’Oreal Elvive a couple of years ago, and to be absolutely honest I only picked it up in the first place because it was on special offer in my local Boots. I had noticed it before but had always passed over it previously because I really wasn’t particularly impressed by the packaging. It’s definitely not the sexiest bottle of shampoo I’ve ever seen and even now, once I’ve used it, it gets hidden away in the bathroom cupboard again until the next time I wash my hair. Mind you, I think that this can be said for most “supermarket” shampoo’s, look at Pantene! What where they thinking when they chose grey for the colour of Pantene bottles? Having said that, the packaging is really of little importance to me when buying a bottle of shampoo, other than tempting me to try a new brand in the first place. I must say that I’ve tried a heck of a lot of different shampoos over the years and I haven’t found another shampoo that even comes close to rivalling Elvive yet. I have incredibly greasy hair and Elvive keeps it in check even if I don't wash it every day, this is the first and only shampoo I have found that keeps my hair feeling clean and fresh for more than one day, and for that I can't praise it enough. Considering that Elvive is a low to mid-price shampoo it really does a very good job. I’ve tried incredibly expensive shampoos (Paul Mitchell for one) which are supposedly designed for greasy hair, but they haven’t washed my hair anywhere near as well as Elvive does. It lathers very well so you only need to use a small amount, a bottle goes a very long way. An added bonus of Elvive is that it not only cleans my hair very well but it also smells really good too. I’m using the Citrus-CR variety at the moment which smells absolutely wonderful, almost good enough to eat with a subtle tang of citrus, but without smelling like washing up liq
uid, which I’ve found in the past can be a problem with citrus scented shampoo. I hate to sound like a shampoo advert but Elvive really does leave my hair feeling silky, shiny and incredibly manageable. I would definitely recommend Elvive to anybody who suffers from the curse of greasy hair, as I do, because I’ve tried it and I know that it is an excellent shampoo and it really works. L’Oreal also make several varieties of shampoo to cater for people with most other hair types, so I would also recommend Elvive to anybody else who isn't happy with their current brand. Elvive is a great shampoo, it’s just a shame that the packaging isn’t up to scratch. I’m so proud that I managed to write this whole opinion without mentioning “the science bit” or typing “I’m worth it” well, until now, of course!
