Advantages: Removes hair products, Doesn't weigh down your hair, Hair stays clean!
Disadvantages: Smell could be better
For those of you who read my Pantene opinion, you'll know that I had been intending to try out L'Oreal Elvive next! So after my Pantene bottles of shampoo and conditioner finished I set off to buy some. The last time I tried Elvive was over a year ago - I had just had my hair highlighted twice and it was beginning to become a little dry. I came across the red bottles of Elvive suitable for coloured and highlighted hair, and was quite impressed with the result from what I can remember. Well this time I was faced with a stack of new looking bottles - the "Citrus-CR" range. Personally I don't go for the fruity smelling shampoos much - it makes me feel I'm wearing fruit salad perfume, gets a little sickening in my opinion. However, the shampoo and conditioner bottles boasted 'Revitalising shampoo...lasting freshly washed feeling...lightness and shine' so I thought I might as well give it a try. ~The shampoo~ If you think citrus, you think oranges and lemons...but to me this shampoo smells more of apples. It is white in colour and for me (having hair just past shoulder length) I find that I don't really need to use that much to make a good lather. About the size of a 50p is quite adequate for me. I like the bottle. Quite a few shampoo bottles can be quite hard to open when you are in the shower and your hands are wet. The little indent to flip the bottle-lid open is on occasion badly designed but with this bottle there is no problem at all. Now the results - as I have mentioned in other opinions I always use shampoo and conditioner of the same brand, and never use a 2 in 1. I felt the shampoo was very good at removing styling products from my hair and left my hair feeling relatively soft even before the use of the conditioner. Some shampoos have the tendency to make your hair feel like straw but not Elvive. This is one of the few shampoos that I think I could use alone, without the need for conditioner. However, as my hai
r is still recovering from the dyeing and highlighting I have put it through - for me I prefer to use a conditioner every time I wash my hair. For people who like the fruity smell, I recommend you try this range. Even though I am not that keen on the smell I can tell you that it is a very good shampoo that doesn't make your hair greasy like other fruity shampoos I have tried. I'm impressed - well done L'Oreal. (L'Oreal Elvive is normally on special offer in Boots stores, so keep your eyes open and take advantage of the offer and see what you think!)

Redhead23 - 05/05/01 Excellent Op - If I didn't have shampoo and conditioner of about 3 different brands lining my bathroom cabinet already, you'd have me convinced! (I LOVE apples!) |
