Advantages: Leaves dry, fine hair full of body and shine.
Disadvantages: It is a little more expensive than some conditioners
Having a number of grandchildren knitting would seem to be an occupational hazard. I mean it’s expected isn’t? Grandmas knit. This one doesn’t actually turn out a huge number (unlike many of my peers) but I try hard and as long as I make them big and start several seasons before they are required I can offer something passable...I DIGRESS. I am of course referring to nit without the ‘k’. It would seem that head lice, (what an awful sound), are doing the rounds again and WE, that’s him and me, may be, just MAY BE infected. Speedy journey to the chemist is required and then an evening smelling like...I can’t think of anything that smells THAT bad!! (For those not familiar with the procedure the hair must be soaked with this foul smelling liquid and left to dry naturally and then next morning washed with a normal shampoo and hopefully anything previously in the hair will be washed out DEAD, (and I want none of this cruelty to animals, I am an animal too). Nothing washed out next morning so I suspect that we were clear after all. Now my daughter’s friend’s girls have longish flowing CLEAN hair, (the saying is that nits always go for clean hair), and yet her girls never seem to have a problem! “How can this be?” my daughter asked her. The answer would seem to be to use a leave-in conditioner every time the hair is washed and this will prevent these little blighters (Collins dictionary a blighter is a despicable thing, which is an excellent description), anyway this will prevent these little blighters from getting a grip. MAGIC. Hotfoot to our local chemist once again but the only leave-in conditioner they had for sale was Lanes Tea Tree Conditioner so we used this liberally. Tee tree oil has a very pungent smell, not as bad as the anti-whatnot hair stuff but not exactly the sort of smell to make one feel feminine and alluring! Still needs must and this medicinal smell w
ould certainly appear to be the lesser of two evils. Then in Superdrug, wonder upon wonders, Lo and behold – L’OREAL ELVIVE daily nourishing concentrate for frequent use on dry hair. It hydrates and nourishes and contains kera-protein, (which replenishes depleted areas of the hair's cuticle, smoothes hair from root to tip and nourishes dry hair), AND is A NON RINSE CONDITIONER. And at £3.99 for 100ml I bought it. Now at last we come to the whole point of this opinion. This is a conditioner, which I can be really enthusiastic about. The smell is very gentle and pleasant. It is extremely easy to use and one only needs a little. It stands on the cap so there is no waiting for the stuff to slowly glug and then flomp, (I might have made that word up!), out of the hole at the top, leaving a lot more on the hand than is required. Apart from all these, sort of 'by the way things', it is the best conditioner I have ever used. My hair is very fine, floaty and a wee bit dry but this conditioner gives it body and bounce and shine. There is no leaning over the bath with conditioned hair dripping while you count the two, three or even longer minutes until you can give the hair it’s final rinse. Just think if it hadn’t been for that other nasty little problem I might never have noticed this product. Now you have two tips how not to encourage those unmentionable ‘things’ AND a very good hair conditioner. This product is good, but then I’m worth it!! (Sorry about that I just couldn’t stop myself!). My husband is finishing up the Tea Tree Conditioner. It would seem a shame to waste it.
