Advantages: Fantastic de-tangler, leaves hair smelling great
Disadvantages: My hair turned quite greasy prety quickly after use
I have suffered with the same problems with my hair all my life. Dull, lifeless and tangly. A good conditioner is essential for my hair to keep it in the best condition possible. I have tried and tested pretty much every conditioner available on the market at present and Loreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Detangler is one of the best I have found and I am now a regular user.
============
The Product Itself
============
The conditioner itself is a brilliant white colour and rather thick in texture - almost 'gloopy'. It has quite a distinctive smell to it, quite strong and sweet-like but not at all over-bearing or sickly. Just right in fact. To me the conditioner had quite a greasy feel to it after I squeezed some out of the bottle before application which did put me off slightly, however this greasiness wasn't evident after applying to my hair.
The packaging states that this is the ultra-detangling conditioner (hence the reason why I tried it in the first place) and claims to give you 'mirror shine' and a 'cashmere touch'. It contains 'pearl protein' and 'light reflecting booster' which is supposed to help give you that extra shine.

Price and Packaging
==============
Loreal Elvive Conditioners are available in two sizes. These are 250ml and 400ml. Prices of which come in at £2.25 and £3.35 respectively. You may find them cheaper elsewhere as these are Boots prices at present and Boots can be quite an expensive store compared to others. However Boots do have an offer on at present meaning you can buy two products for £4.00 and you can also collect your advantage card points too.
Each Loreal Elvive product is packaged in a different colour to make them easily recognisable. The Nutri-Gloss conditioner is in a really bright pink colour with a hot-pink plastic lid. The colour is what first attracted me to look at it in the first place as its really bright and vibrant. I prefer the 250ml bottle as this stands on its lid meaning all the conditioner runs down towards the lid, which is handier when nearing the end of the bottle and you want to squeeze that last little bit out. The 400ml bottle stands normally so its not quite so easy to get that last bit out & you end up standing it on its lid for a while anyway to get that last bit out anyway!!
The bottles of both sizes are made from re-cyclable plastic and the plastic hot-pink lids are simple 'flip up' lids. The bottle states that this conditioner is suitable for mid-long length, dull hair.

Instructions
==========
The instructions for use of this product are pretty much the same as any other conditioner really. Simply wash and shampoo your hair and rinsce. Then squeeze a small amount (around the size of a two pence coin) into your hand and massage into all parts of your hair and rinse thoroughly.

Does it Work?
==========
Yes is that simple answer to that one. My hair definitely felt soft and smooth and had a nice healthy looking shine to it after use. Im not sure about the 'mirror shine' and 'cashmere touch' it promised but it did a good enough job to keep me happy. Nothing spectacular but certainly not bad either.
The main thing which impressed me about this product was how easy it was to get a comb through my hair after washing. The comb just slid through my hair with ease which is a first for my hair and for that reason alone I shall be using this product again. The de-tangler part of this product definitely worked a treat and my hair smelt lovely too.
Although as said previously my hair didn't feel greasy after use, it did start to feel greasy again quicker than maybe if i'd used some other products. It also claims to leave your hair stronger. I have tried this product a few times now and haven't noticed a difference on this front.

Summary
========
Would I use this product again? Yes I would, but mainly because of how easily it de-tangled my hair and not for everything else the bottle promised. As said previously it did leave my hair feeling soft and looking shiny but this didn't seem to last very long and I have tried other products which do the job just as good, if not better.
This conditioner though does leave your hair smelling really nice and I can't fault how easily I got a comb through my hair. If you suffer with knotty hair then this is the product for you. If you are just after silky shine then I suggest you try something else. Not bad but could do better.
Summary: A nice product but not spectacular

- 04/09/09 Not one for me if it makes your hair greasier quicker than usual. Very well reviewed though. |
