The pre-conditioner helps overcome this, and is an excellent addition. To make up the dye you squirt the colour into the activator bottle and give it a really good shake up. The kit comes with a fancy comb applicator which screws onto the top of the bottle, but this doesn't work for my hair as there is too much of it - I have long and very thick hair. So, I stick to using the old ...more

Crowned Review L'Oréal Excellence: From Bimbo to Wooden Head (1503 words)

I was bored so what better way to fill half an hour or so than colouring my hair :oP About a month ago I recieved some vouchers for money off L'Oreal products, and after much umming and arhing at the shelves in Asda packed with a multitude of colours, I decided it was time to go drastic and get rid of my blonde enhanced locks and go for nice warm dark brown hair. So Mahogany Brown was taken home and put away on a shelf until I felt the time was ready. A few weekends ago was the time and I was ready. So I carefully opened my little box of goodies to see what mess I could make of my hair. The contents are really quite ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Caravan Capers (1318 words)

Those of you that read my Lumia hair dye op a few weeks ago will undoubtedly remember that I had a fairly grim hair disaster a little while ago. The Lumia failed to rectify my accidental white hair, and I found myself with yellowy, white hair with ginger stripes over the top! Honestly folks,it was a mess! It was also beginning to break and fall out due to three lots of dye in as many days. I had decided to leave it for a few weeks to gain some strength before attempting to rectify the situation. However, last week I was on holiday in Cornwall. The weather was terrible and meant that we were confined to barracks, or in this case a caravan, for a couple ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review L'Oréal Excellence: Blondes have more fun!! :O) (1055 words)

It may come as a great surprise to those of you that know me, that I'm not actually a natural blonde...ho hum!! But after developing M.E./CFS, and an inability to come out with sentences that made any sort of sense at all, most of my pals suggested that I go blonde so at least I would have an excuse for sounding a little dumb at times!! :O) (Apologies to all intelligent blondes everywhere, didn't mean it!!! Gulp!!). Additionally, the M.E. had an effect on the colour of my skin too, it became paler than white as I gleaned when my doctor cheerfully pointed out to me, 'You have prison cell pallor my dear'. I wanted to point out that he was no oil ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Saving me a small fortune! (710 words)

Until a year ago, I had been a bottle blonde since I was fifteen. Because of this, I'd always paid to have my hair salon dyed. Since then, my mother has stopped bankrolling my haircuts (sob) so after an initial salon trip to head back to a more natural brown ish red colour, I have since dyed my hair at home in order to save the pennies! After trying several different brands, L'Oreal Excellece Creme has established itself as my firm favourite. The packaging is not as funky and trendy as some other brands, and at first I was dubious that I would end up with an old woman shade of dull brown. But, on the recommendation of a reliable friend, I bought this dye in a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review L'Oréal Excellence: Excellence. (731 words)

L'Oreal Excellence is a permanent hair colour I've been using more than any other colour over the years. It offers a good range of colours you can mix together if you like, and provides consistent results without having an obvious marketing 'gimmick' to sell the products with; just a good quality, basic permanent colour range. The product is packaged in a feminine looking peach-coloured cardboard box, with a picture of a model wearing the particular colour on the front. When selecting a shade, please remember that the picture of the model on the box has been taken in heavy red/yellow studio lighting, and looks lighter than the shade will be on you in daylight, ...  Read the complete review
