Advantages: good coverage, good selection of colours, they cater to men!

Disadvantages: the smell!!!!!!!!

Sorry, the title is a bit silly. Why wouldn't Feria hair dye work for men, after all their hair is quite similar to women's if not identical... but... anyway back to the point.

For some time my husband has been experimenting with hair dye. As he's an archaeologist and he's often covered in muck this makes no difference to his working life, and it gives him joy. Lately he's been wanting to dye his hair blond from its natural nut brown colour. Fortunately Feria have recently launched a Men's range so he was able to pick something out that was neither 'Just for Men' or covered in smiling women. This is Macho Hair dye. He chose the colour teak and we set about dying his hair.
Those of you who have dyed their hair before know the drill, dampen your hair, etc. I have tried Feria before and like the way the two bottles simply snap together this elminates the nasty mess that usually accompanies dying experiences. Feria also includes a pair of real latex gloves as opposed to the nasty plastic ones affixed to the back of the instructions found in most boxes of hair dye. Feria for men also includes helpful picture diagrams which actually include stylised pictures of men, including the 'man with long hair' in a pony tail who will use two boxes of Feria for men (oooo). Other than that it is exactly the same as the women's brand of hair dye.

We applied the foul smelling goo to his head and he waited about for half an hour for the colour to develop. There was quite even coverage and it was a very blond result, much blonder then I think I expected as usually hair that as dark as his would go orangey (sorry... russet :) before it went blond. The conditioner made it very soft and I think he was quite content. He's very happy with his blondy hair.

2 weeks on and the colour has become more brassy. I think this is largely due to colour his hair was originally. However his hair and scalp are still in excellen
t condition and he's still very happy with it.

Next time we will try Feria Surf blond where the man on the box looks unfortunately like a pimp.

Feria can be found at most branches of Boots, Superdrugs and Tescos. A range of most Feria for Men colours can be located at Superdrugs and large Boots.

I hate those gloves you usually get, your nails go straight through them!

How will you feel about being married to a pimp who enjoys getting dirty with old things? ;)
