Advantages: Really does nourish skin; affordable
Disadvantages: Smells funny once on
I've never really been in to expensive moisturisers that claim to bring back your youth in exchange for a large amount of hard earned cash. But seeing as I'm getting a bit older I admit to being curious about them. And seeing as my tub of Nivea was running low, I thought why not try one of these more self-indulgent creams, if for no other reason than to treat myself. So I settled for the L'Oréal Paris Triple Active Nourish Moisturiser from Boots.
It cost around the £6 mark, therefore as expensive creams go, I didn't think it was actually that expensive. You only get 50 ml for your money, which doesn't sound like much. But I have to say, you don't need to put too much on each time. I bought my pot about a month ago and have probably only used a third of it up, and that is from using it twice a day.
When deciding which cream I was going to treat myself to, I was attracted by the name of this one. The fact that it is has the words 'triple nourish' in its name sounded great to me. I don't have dry skin all over my face but occasionally my forehead and cheeks can get very dry, therefore anything that serves to nourish and hydrate them is what my skin needs. I tested a small amount on the back of my hand and realised this cream was also non-greasy, another plus point. And, when I do now actually wear it on my face, it does not leave any grease behind. In fact, it absorbs into my skin very quickly and without leaving any unattractive grease behind. I am also really pleased to say that the dry patches I used to have on my forehead and cheeks has really improved since I've been using this cream.
I have only two small criticisms' of this cream. The first is the smell. In the pot it smells delightful. It's got a very delicate and unoffending, slightly feminine smell. But for some reason, a few minutes after it's been on my face I don't like the smell very much, and I think it smells a tiny bit stale/rancid. It's not a very strong smell, just a hint. I'm not sure if it's just my skin - it may well be that other people out there use this cream and do not find that this is the case for them, so I wouldn't let this put anyone off buying it. The second small criticism is that, because I use this also as a night cream, I find that it can feel a bit 'wet' against the pillow. But then again, don't let this put you off as it's not really designed as a night cream anyway, and I don't find this problem during the day.
All in all, for the price you pay, it's a great product!
