Advantages: Crazy styles, Leaves hair non greasy and crunchy
Disadvantages: Not suitable for long hair/neat styles
The name of this hair styling "fibre putty" gives you a hint of what it lets you do with your hair - you can create the just got out of bed look! If you are the type of person who spends ages getting your hair straight and neat and tidy then this might not be for you, but for anyone who wants the messy, scruffy look then this is perfect! Out of Bed L'Oreal Studioline Special FX: Out of Bed, Lasting Messed Up Effect Fibre Putty. Phew - thats a long name! Although it is described as a fibre putty I would call it more a styling gloop - thick, white & sticky (no giggling please). It has a nice smell that seems to come from most L'Oreal products and comes in the Studioline Special FX packaging of light blue with a silver lid. I've seen it on sale in most places that sell hair styling products - Boots, Superdrug, supermarkets. It ranges in price from £3.99 (Boots) to about £2.50 (Tescos I think). If you shop around you can usually find it Buy One Get One Free somewhere. Messed Up Effect The container has full instructions on it and a little cartoon head with a crazy example of what hair styes you can create! It says to use on dry hair and I would agree - damp hair is just about OK but wet hair does not go well! The gloop seems to dilute and you just end up with a slick, sticky mess that won't hold. It is very sticky and you just rub some together in your hands and away you go. I like the "just go mad" technique myself but you can spike it, twirl it or whatever you want. After about half an hour it sets - the container says that you can restyle it throughout the day but I don't really agree. I have used the L'Oreal Remix product before and that you can restyle - Out of Bed does harden into shape a bit. Fibre Putty Having used many other hair products before to style my fairly short but crazy and untamable hair, I must say this is one of my favourites. Wax always feels greasy,
gel goes all crunchy, sprays don't hold enough. Out of Bed does hold you style in place - even if your hair is spiked straight up and longish. When dry it does not have that greasy feel but it doesn't make your hair crunchy either. Depending on your style and length of hair you may have to use quite a bit - compared to gels anyway. If you get through it quite quickly then just stock up when they are BOGOF. The Studioline Special FX Remix and Radical Gel are also good styling products that are usually included in the deal so you could try them as well. Why worry about your hair beig neatly combed when you can create a crazy fashionable style in minutes - mess it up!
