Advantages: Works really well, isn't too expensive, smells nice
Disadvantages: Not for those who don't like perfumed moisturises
The Activ Futur range belongs to the L'Oreal paris Dermo-Expertise range and it consists of a cleansing wash, cleansing wipes, cleansing milk, toner and moisturiser. The product I am going to be focusing on in this review is the moisturiser which is otherwise known as Activ Futur Multi-protection healthy glow creme (quite a mouthful don't you think!).
*** About the Moisturiser ***
Activ Futur Multi-protection healthy glow creme is a moisturiser specially designed for dry skin. Containing Grape Polyphenols, pure vitamin E and SPF 8, it gives complete anti-oxidant protection and has Anti-Aging UV protection.
*** How does it work? ***
Applied twice a day this moisturiser helps prevent everyday damage to your skin from stress, pollution, UV rays and smoke. All of the causes of skin damage trigger off oxidants which then attack skin cells and visibly age your skin leaving it looking dull and dehydrated. The Grape Polyphenols are extremely good anti-oxidants and combined with the pure vitamin E, it helps to maintain youthful looking skin.
*** My overall opinion ***
I've been using this cream now for a week and I have already noticed huge differences in my skin. I used to rely on E45 which is a really good, proven cream to control dry skin as well as other skin conditions. It worked well at first but then my skin got used to it so I needed something different. After trying cheaper creams on the market that just weren't working, I turned to this mainly because of it's brand name.
The thing I like about this is that it is used both at night and in the morning. Most moisturisers seem to come in two's, one for night and then a separate one for the morning which means double the price. So it works out cheaper in the long run and it's handy too.
The actual smell of the cream is quite nice. It's definitely one for the girls (sorry guys) with a nice, soft perfumey smell that's not too strong and not too weak either. It smells a little like baby lotion or talcum powder but only faintly. My fiance loves the smell and has commented several times how nice it is. This obviously isn't good news if you're somebody who prefers non-smelling face creams though but as I said it isn't overly powerful, I know it makes me feel more girly which is nice.
The packaging is also impressive. Now I know a lot of people don't care about this and usually I'd agree with you as the packaging makes no difference whatsoever to the actual product itself does it. However, the packaging does get you to buy it and I feel that the actual tub it comes in is nicely designed. The most handy thing is when you unscrew the lid you are presented with a little cap that protects the cream as you are with a lot of other creams. However, I sometimes find these lids hard to lift off but the crafty people at L'Oreal have designed a bigger than average little handle that you can easily grab and keep hold of until you've finished applying your cream. So nothing too exciting but it's a little detail that means a lot to me lol.
The cream itself is a light pink colour and it is very creamy to the touch. It isn't too thick and it isn't at all thin so this makes it easy to spread across the face. It also soaks in really quickly too. I know with the E45 I had to wait around half an hour to an hour before it had soaked in. So the good thing about this is that you can apply your make up straight after you have applied it.
Applying it is simple. All you need to do is make sure you have cleansed your face first. It doesn't mention any need for a toner or anything else, it just says make sure your face is cleansed. Then you simply apply a little cream onto your face and gently spread it around. I find I don't have to use much an I feel the 50ml will last me at least three months.
Effects wise I have noticed big changes in my skin since I've been using it. Before I was using tesco skin wisdom night cream and oil of olay day cream. They were doing an ok job but they weren't really shifting my dry skin, they were just covering it up. This however is completely shifting it and re hydrating my skin. Patches that I have had for ages are slowly disappearing and it's leaving me with more confidence. My skin is extremely smooth and my make up glides on really well whereas with other creams my foundation in particular has stuck to my dry patches and made it look horrible. Appearance wise my skin does have a slight glow to it now which it hasn't had before. I really am impressed with this moisturiser ad I know as soon as it has shifted the dry patches my skin will have even more of a glow to it. The effects last all the way through the day and right up until it's time for my next application at night. So as you can see it lasts a long time! I will stress though that you should also be eating a healthy diet too as if you aren't, no amount of cream will help your skin. Water is a good source of moisture so make sure you drink plenty in order to give your skin the best possible chance of being healthy.
I can't recommend this enough as it really has worked for me and I have extremely dry skin. It's always a gamble when trying something new but I feel I've hit the jackpot with this. One thing I haven't mentioned is that L'Oreal recommend you use their other products in this range too before you use this. There are three stages that they recommend and this is the third one. I know I'm definitely buying the other two stages as soon as I get paid next and I'm really looking forward to the benefits from them.
*** Price and Availability ***
I bought my 50ml tub from Tesco for six pounds ninety eight but I'm sure you can get it from places such as superdrug or boots and maybe asda will sell it too? Failing that try online on Ebay. Prices will vary depending on where you shop so shop around to get the best deal.
