Advantages: Vibrant colour

Disadvantages: Itchy

I've used Clairol Nice and Easy for about two years now, and I'd always been happy with the results. My motto is if something works for you, stick to it. However Clairol have recently changed the box design, and thus made claims of a new improved formula. I used the new improved formula, and in one word, it was a joke, the colour was rubbish, and it faded after a week.

That's why I changed to L'Oreal. The brand I tried by L'Oreal Recital Les Blondissiones in Lightest Natural Blonde. I thought I'd write this opinion by stating what claims L'Oreal makes about this colorant, then write in a question answer format, that should address your queries, and most importantly a road test, from day of colouring to re-touch application.

L'Oreal's Claims.
-----------------

This hair dye claims to give you a natural blonde colour without the need for pre-lightening. You can obtain from the very lightest blonde to a more golden shade. Recital uses colour gel technology, which results in finely balanced colour, that's never dull, brassy or uneven, and throughout the month your hair should remain true and infinitely beautiful.

Unlike most colorant's, you get a special After-Colour Conditioner, that lasts for four applications. This helps to maintain the colour, so that throughout the month your hair should look like the first day you coloured it. The conditioner is also supposed to stop your hair drying out, and thus give your hair shine and vibrancy.

Who should Not Use This Colorant?
---------------------------------

You mustn't use this dye if you have grey hair, if you have previously coloured your hair with a dark or warm shade or if you have used henna or metallic salts. Also, do not use if you have an allergic reaction to the dye.

Before You Start.
-----------------

Before you even think about applying this hair dye, follow out the sensitivity and c
olour stand test. Both are easy procedures, and could save you a lot of pain.

What's In The Box.
------------------

A bottle containing the development cream.
A bottle of colorant gel.
A bottle of After Colour Conditioner.
A pair of high quality gloves. (Wow).

What Shade Will I be?
---------------------

You shouldn't use this dye if your hair is darker that brown. If you have light brown to brown hair you should obtain a golden blonde, and if your hair is dark to light blonde you should achieve a very light blonde.

Application.
------------

There are four options available to you. The first is if you are applying the colorant on natural hair for the first time, the second option is applying to hair which has already been coloured with a light shade, third option is applying if you have used this colorant before, and lastly applying on very light hair, which has already been lightened.

Obviously, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to give concise instructions. Nevertheless, the instruction leaflet is well laid out and extremely easy to understand.

How Long Does It Take?
----------------------

If takes approximately an hour, 15 minutes to apply and 45 minutes to set. However, the time should be shortened if you don't want to go too blonde. Personally I leave it on as long as possible, to obtain a very light blonde.

What Now?
---------

All you have to do now is rinse your hair thoroughly, apply the conditioner, and Bob's your uncle, not really always say that.

The Road Test.
--------------

The Application.

My mum applied the colorant, after 20 minutes scalp started to burn; started to get uncomfortable and itchy, after 10 more minute's itchiness disappeared. Got a few drips in my ears and around my face. When I was cooked went into the bathroom and rinsed my hair thoroughly and app
lied the special conditioner.

Looked in the mirror, I couldn't believe my eyes, my hair was really blonde, felt really pleased. In addition, drips had washed off, and I didn't experience any rash.
Dried my hair, hair felt very sticky and horrible. The next day I washed my hair again, and it was back to normal, colour was extremely vibrant and my hair felt softer and there was slightly more shine to it.

A Week Later.
-------------

Colour was still vibrant; it hadn't faded at all. Used the colour care conditioner.

Two Weeks Later.
----------------

Still going strong, hair still looks very blonde, used the colour condition again.

Three Weeks Later.
-----------------

I can't believe it my colour is still light blonde, used colour conditioner, it's all gone now, so it only lasted three washes and not four, but there again I have very long hair.

Four Weeks Later.
-----------------

Oh my god, it still vibrant, but now my roots are showing and it's off to the shops to by another pack.

Conclusion.
-----------

I was extremely impressed with this hair dye, the colour is so beautiful and it really doesn't fade, this could be down to the special conditioner. The only bad thing about it was the itchiness. But as they say no pain no gain. I'll definitely be purchasing L'Oreal from now on.
