Advantages: smooths over any blemishes, makes your foundation last longer

Disadvantages: expensive for the highstreet

Lisa Eldrige, a famous make-up artist, beauty blogger and manager of the boots No7 brand is always going on about primers on her blog, and i eventually gave in a decided to try one out. I looked around a lot first, as the high-end primers tended to be very expensive, ranging about the £20 mark, but i eventually found this one for £10. I had actually heard very good things about L'oreal studio secrets anti-dull skin primer, and it had even won an elle beauty award in 2010.

For those of you who don't know, a primer is aimed to smooth out your skin, providing a better base for the rest of your make-up than moisturiser alone. This specific primer claims to brighten dull skin, while helping foundation stay on for longer and improving the texture of your skin. L'oreal provide the primer in a round tube with a pump top, and you get 20mls for your money. It comes in three shades and i opted for the darkest one.

The primer is similar to serum in consistancy, you only need one pump and you just rub it into your skin. It has a peach tint to it, and it seems to smooth over any blemishes/skin tone differences. It sort of fades everything into each other, as if you've used the buffing tool on photo-shop.

It absorbed in well, and didn't have any weird smells. I don't think it particularly brightened my skin, but it did make it look better in the sense that everything seemed more one shade, and less blemishy. When i put my foundation ontop it slid on well. I actually ended up using less foundation than i normally do and had a fair amount left on the back of my hand. My make-up stayed put for the majority of the day, it lasted about 8-9 hours which i was very impressed with, but obviously it wasn't perfect by the end of those 9 hours.

For a highstreet primer i do think this is really good, i have used the mac primer and i think with primers its a case of getting what you pay for. I would definately consider buying this again.

Summary: a good primer, possibly a little over priced
