Advantages: Instant tan!
Disadvantages: Pricey, not for sensitive skin!
After coming back off holiday I like to keep my tan topped up as it starts to fade. I usually use false tan in the cream form, but when I saw this L'Oreal sublime bronze tanning gel I thought I give it a go.
This product retails at £13 for 150ml, and can be bought from Boots and other cosmetics stores. The gel comes in two different shades, to suit different skin tones. This tanning gel can be used on your face as well as your body. The bottle is brown with an orange flip top lid.
The gel is a dark brown colour, it does look a little bit off putting, but it is easier to apply. The gel will rub in easily, and will automatically make your legs look browner. It will take around 5 minutes to fully soak in, but just be careful not to get it on your furniture or clothes, because it does stain!
The gel smells slightly strange, it isn't chemical, but it isn't really natural either! It will last for a little while on your skin, so if you don't like it you may need extra body spray or perfume to try and conceal the smell.
It does leave your skin glimmering, because of the shine in the gel, and because of the tint in the gel, it will turn your legs browner straight away, but then the tan will build up gradually over a few hours.
The gel won't leave that many streaks, but you do have to be careful when applying. Take extra care over your elbows, knees and feet, or you may end up with orangey patches!
This product is best applied after a shower or bath, and I would suggest that you exfoliate before, so you get the best effects.
The gel will build up your tan, but if more than one application is used within a short period of time you can be left looking like you've just been swimming in chocolate. So, I would advise that you are careful with frequency of application, because it is quite dark.
The false tan will last on your skin for a few days, but it does wash off quite a bit in the shower.
I do have sensitive skin, especially on my legs, so this did unfortunately bring me out in a rash. After washing the product off though, everything was fine.
Because of this, I will not be purchasing this product again, but I would recommend to everyone without sensitive legs. It does provide a natural glowing tan, in a short period of time. So, I have rewarded this L'Oreal sublime bronze tanning gel with 3 stars. I have deducted two stars for the bad smell, the length of soaking in time, and the fact that it gave me a rash.
Thank you for reading this review, I hope it was of some use to you!
