Advantages: Separates lashes
Disadvantages: Not waterproof
L'Oreal telescopic mascara
I like to have different mascaras and decided on this one during a recent foray at the supermarket
PROMISES...
The mascara comes with the promise that lashes will be dramatically longer with twice the intensity, mainly because it apparently has a patented flexible precision brush (whatever that is!)so it seems to be just the kind of thing i am going to Like.
It also promises to be opthalmologist and allergy tested and suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, as well as being fragrance free. The mascara will also remove easily with soap and water which gives me the impression that it can't be waterproof.
How it Works...
The aforementioned patented Flexible Precision Brush lengthens lashes up to 60% and exclusive Carbon Black pigments provide two times the intensity! I am often bemused by how many of these make up products have such exclusive and patented ingredients.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
The mascara comes is a black mascara tube, much the same as most other mascaras, and with gold coloured edging and lettering, with a screw on/off lid. It is quite stylish in that it isn't straight, but is slimmer at the top of the lid and tapers out towards the bottom of the tube.
When I unscrew the lid and bring out the wand, i see that the brush is a bit different to those I usually use. The mascara brush, instead of being the "normal" brush, is a series of kind of prongs/spikes in 4 layers around the wand. This makes them sound dangerous, but they are quite soft and short so they won't damage you, thankfully.
When i apply it to my eyelashes, it is intensely black and goes on easily. Because of the type of brush it is, I find that it very easily separates my eye lashes, and doesn't leave them clogged together at all.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The mascara costs around the £8 mark and is available from chemists and supermarkets as well as from various online sites but beware of postage costs.
VERDICT...
I like this mascara, which I initially thought I would because I tend to like the L'Oreal products. It has a nice long wand and the mascara is very black which makes my eye lashes very black. It separates my eye lashes which I like and I am thankfully not left all clogged up and trying desperately to separate them. The only thing I would advise is to try to keep your eyelashes still for a while after application. The mascara is quite wet and if you do a lot of fluttering of the eyelashes when it's first applied, it will end up on the eye sockets... a minute of low level movement does the trick. The fact that it is quite wet seems to make it not waterproof but the plus point is that it really does remove easily- no scrubbing required.
This has lasted me for ages and there still seems to be plenty of the stuff left. If you like a lash separating very black mascara, then i would recommend this particularly if you don't mind it not being waterproof.
Thanks for reading.

- 17/08/09 It's great that you can get this sort of thing from the supermarket but I wish they sort out the trolleys so small things don't slide out all the time! Donna x |
