Advantages: Matches and evens skin tone. No caking. Attractive shades.

Disadvantages: None.

I was the lucky recipient of a bottle of this when my mum was doing her yearly make up bag clear out. For some reason she'd bought two of these, and since I am a cash deprived student, she was nice enough to give me the second.

I have very pale, combination skin, so pale that it is rare for a company to make a foundation that is pale enough and L'Oreal is no exception. I rarely use this as a reason to loose marks because it is a common theme in make up and I've learned how to get around it.

True Match Liquid Foundation claims to give a "natural looking, skin-true colour without tide-marks and outstanding coverage without caking." But is this accurate?

*PACKAGING*

The foundation bottle is very attractive; a glass cuboid with slightly concave sides, with a silver pump and clear lid. The writing is white and unobtrusive, and there is a silver label on the back which gives various information including the shade (C1 Rose Ivory in my case).

The pump is easy to use and unlike many is easy to control. Some will just expel a set amount pf product but this allows you to get as much or as little as you need.

*APPLICATION*

The foundation is thin but not runny, a really good consistency for sponges but a little but too thin for effective brush use. Normally I use my fingers to apply because I find it the most reliable method for all foundations. Whatever the method, it spreads well across the skin, leaving behind a uniform and even covering, It is easy to apply to large areas (cheeks, forehead) and smaller ones (eyelids, corners of eye and crease of nostril), though you might need a smaller sponge with a sharp for the smaller areas.

*RESULTS*

The foundation looks even no matter how lazy I am inapplication-a testament to its "True Match" claim. It lasts until removed at night on an average day, though excessive sweat will remove it (but then again, is it fair to expect otherwise??). It has an appearance that isn't exactly matte, but certainly shine free. It looks smooth and porcelainlike, almost like an airbrushed photo but with more character!

I would say that if your skin is particularly dry or uneven then this might not be for you because it is light-medium coverage and it isn't moisturising (though it isn't drying).

Summary: Definitely no caking with this one. Two thumbs up from me.

I haven't used a liquid foundation in years, used mineral makeup for so long. This does sound good though.

I loved this stuff when it first came out, but I only use mineral make-up these days.

I absolutely love Max Factor Colour Adapt-it's one of my regulars. Both CA and this are definitely "natural coverage", but I'm lucky, most days that's all I need.
