Brighouse is a small Yorkshire town in the shadow of the great towns of Huddersfield and Halifax. Its local paper is The Brighouse Echo and it is published every Friday. As it covers a small area it does tend to have difficulty in finding something to write about. Consequently the stories tend to be quite trivial or quite repetitive. Like many local papers the majority of stories tend to be about crime. I also wonder if this is because local papers tend to be read by older people. The Brighouse Echo is a weekly newspaper giving all the news from the Brighouse area, well to be honest there is more news from Halifax and Huddersfield in it and even more national news mainly because very little newsworthy things happen in Brighouse! The paper costs 40p (having just risen last week from 38p). Each week there is a property guide supplement in it which to be honest is usually thicker than the actual paper. It averages about 20 pages of which about half are classifieds and Births, Death and Marriage announcements.
