Advantages: Well produced local newspaper

Disadvantages: Not a lot, the obituaries if you are not used to them can seem a little odd.

Mansfield Chad. This is the Mansfield edition of the Chad newspaper, they do publish other editions for the Ashfield and Sherwood areas of Nottinghamshire.
I see the previous review for this newspaper was in 2001, so how has it changed? The price for one thing it's 62p to buy in the shop and 60p to be delivered so the incentive to have it delivered has lessened greatly.

It is still a tabloid format of about 100 pages and that basically hasn't changed. They have recently started a page of money off coupons and offers, always welcome at the moment.

It is well produced and the journalistic content for a newspaper of it's size is good. It isn't full of WI meetings etc as some local newspapers are. It has embraced modern technology and has a good website.

As mentioned in the earlier review the obituaries pages ( 4 of them in this week's issue) can seem a little odd if you are not used to seeing them, they have during my lifetime always been there in the same format and as a local you don't notice them. To sum up a good local newspaper, not perfect but I think just about as good as you can get.

Summary: As good as you get with local news.
