.Net is one of the most well respected internet magazines available on the UK market. It provides news and information, product reviews and cover discs full of everything you need to know to help you get the most out of the internet. It has a friendly style about it and is less formal than Internet magazine, which is the only other internet magazine that is worth buying (in my view). It covers everyday issues that interest everyone, but also manages to come up with interesting articles and advice that are very specific, yet also appealing. The sections --------------- In every issue, there are a few features. These I find, are very interesting and cover many different topics such as Web Design Tips, Broadband Technology, skinning programs and multimedia art. Diary – This is a page at the start of the mag which concentrates on upcoming events both on the net and to do with it in the real world. News – This is pretty self explanatory. Several pages covering the internet related news of the past month. Have Your Say – This is the reader letters section which covers all kinds of topics. A good read. Net Know How - This includes expert advice on topics such as the two main browsers, web designing and a reader questions page for technical questions. I find the web design section the best here as it covers all kinds of web design topics which I find very useful. The .net 100 – This is a listing of the top 100 websites of the month, categorised for different interests. Very useful when you are looking for something you’ve never looked on the net for before. Net Software and Hardware sections – This is the reviews section of the mag, which concentrates on net related software and all kinds of interesting hardware. Web Builder – This is quite a large section (about 30 pages) which has articles covering the following topics: Intro
r>Web Site Basics – Especially for beginners Expert HTML Web Graphics Web Tech Web Javascript Web Focus Your Websites – Reviews of readers sites And Finally…. The .net CD! This is exceedingly useful for people looking to get the most out of the internet with all types of programs to improve your net experience. Also, you get a full free program on every issue. This can be very good (such as Macromedia Dreamweaver 1.2), but sometimes a bit disappointing (Protect X firewall). If you’re interested in the net and these kinds of issues, I strongly recommend this mag to you. Happy reading!! Dan

- 16/06/01 You can always buy a cheaper edition without the CD - although off hand, I think that only saves you a pound or so. |
