Advantages: An excellent local paper, containing everything you could possibly want.

Disadvantages: A newspaper that is paid for shoud not contain full sized adverts

The Oxford Mail is Oxfordshire’s leading daily, evening newspaper. It arrives at the stands from lunchtimes, Monday - Saturday. And for 30p, contains lots of local and national news.
It is tabloid style, can be delivered to your door, purchased from local supermarkets, newsagents, local shops and on news stands within the city.

The contents are similar to a national newspaper, with a main local story on the front page, and snippets from articles inside the paper, listed up the side.
Although it is mainly local news, there is a page where you can catch up on the rest of the UK and world news.

In many ways, it is just as good as a national paper, listing local, national and European weather outlooks, lottery results, horoscopes, crossword, and yes, adverts.
Most of the adverts are of an acceptable size, but on occasion there are some that will fill a whole page.

The news reports are of good quality, and it uses both colour and black and white photographs.
Names and email addresses of the journalists are printed, so if you have any questions or disagree with their article in general, you can have your say within seconds.

The sports section is excellent, using 4/5 pages, mostly of local sport. Sports covered include: football, cricket, rugby, greyhound and horse racing, ice hockey, pool, darts, netball, basketball, shooting, and even chess.
A Pools check is included on Saturdays.

The classified section is crammed with items for sale. From cars to toys, there is something for everyone.
All ads, selling items for less than £100 are free, ideal for that Spring clearout.
Also included here, are local services, births, deaths and marriages, personals and cinema listings.

Thursday’s issue comes with a jobs section, listing lots of full and part-time vacancies, and Saturday’s comes with a magazine supplement, which includes a 7 day TV and radio guide.
And all that for 30
p!

If I’ve wet your appetite, but you don’t live local, don’t fret. They also have a website, where you can get an insight of what the paper is all about.
