karlsm93 Woman's Weekly: ... s weekly is fast becoming a magazine I look forward to reading. I have never bought it as such, since I think it is aimed at women older than me, however, my mother in law buys this magazine weekly and then passes it on to me to read, and then I in turn pass it on to my own mother. At 82p for the magazine however, I think it is a very reasonable and fair price in comparison to some of the magazine prices on ...

Clurbur85 Pick Me Up Magazine
... name s Claire and I m a Pick Me Up reader... Ok, I admit it... I buy this magazine every week - I just can t get enough of the real-life stories. I think that the magazine is probably aimed at older women (I am 24), but headlines like: "I ve married my long lost father," "Me and my daughter share a feeder" and "a stripper delivered my baby," always grab my attention! I know it s trashy and nosy reading about other people s lives, but it s also entertaining and usually amusing! Occasionally you will read a really tragic story. A few issues ago I read a piece about a poor woman who has had to live though both her daughters committing suic...

sphoenix108 Private Eye
... on A4 sized pulped paper and printed primarily in black & white to save on costs, Private Eye is a magazine that could easily be overlooked on the burdgeoning shelves at the newsagents as it tries to compete against all the snazzy, contemporary coloured & glossy brochures. Edited by political & social commentator, Ian Hislop (also of Have I Got News For You, fame) , the magazine (or "sad comic" as cynics sometimes call it) offers good value for its £1.20 and 40 pages. Inside you ll find articles on serious contemporary issues of the day such as Railtrack/Hatfield, MMR Vaccines, NHS & local council investigations into sleaze, double-han...

sphoenix108 Arena
... s been a long time since I bought Arena. One of my biggest complaints when it first came out approximately 8 years ago was that it was far too immature, infantile & laddish to be of any interest to a more discerning reader. Back in the early 90s it was competing against like-minded mens mags such as "GQ" & "FHM". However, in opinion "GQ" was tops for style, fashion, articles and features, that Arena tried hard but failed to aspire to because it preferred to be far too hip and felt more like "Loaded" than its true peers. But that was back in the laddish/New Man 90s, we have since moved to the so-called caring Naughties an...
