Do you remember when, aged 11, the ultimate in rebellion was to buy Just 17? And a few years later, to progress to 19 safe in the knowledge that you wouldn’t be that old for ages and ages. That was me at least, but with this “rebellion” comes problems. I got hooked on an American magazine called Seventeen, and realised when I turned 18 that I’d have to give it up, but boy, did I not want to. Now I’m 19 and occasionally, I’ll still buy 19. Out of all the teenage magazines available, 19 is my favourite. I don't know why- it might be the way they seem to actually to too us teens and not just at like some of the other magazines going around do. They just nag about not having that-dreaded-word (sex) until you're at least 22 and in a 5 year relationship. 19 are different as they do accept that yes, teenagers are going to have sex do drugs and have boyfriends that are several years older than us. 19 has an all enticing front cover but take it from the shelf and you will find yet another magazine that replicates the same old articles. It has a limited spread of articles in each issue and is certainly not exciting once past the front cover. The magazine often gives away freebies no doubt to attract teenagers to buy the magazine. However, the freebie is worth no more than the price of the magazine and then you have a very short piece of entertainment for the money. Like most of the teenage magazines that are around at the moment, everything seems to be the same. The gossip is the only thing that is different every week but it is the usual moan and whinge that is the norm for teen writers now. 19 magazine seems however to be able to turn the rehash into something that is just about readable. I would recommend this to younger girls as there is the sdvice that is so important to teens without all of the usual over-dose on sex. This is a brilliant magazine for older teens without being too "grown-up" and boring. There are often really good free products with it such as books and even flip-flops! The stories are both interesting and informative and are very relevant. 19 provides fictional short stories, advice pages, much fashion, reports on celebrities and stories on remarkable young people in todays society. The stories are very well-writtten so are enjoyable to read. The price is slightly high at £1.90 but all magazines are roughly this price anyway.
