Advantages: brilliant service, lots to offer, good deals
Disadvantages: none that i have come accross
If you are selling a car then I would recommend that you advertise in the Auto Trader. We have got a Sierra Cosworth for sale and after lots of problems we experienced with Exchange and Mart (see my opinion on this) we decided to give Auto Trader a go. It had to be better than the service we had recieved recently. I telephoned our local Auto Trader representative yesterday afternoon to arrange a time to have our car photographed and by 5 o clock this afternoon it was all done and dusted. Auto Trader have alot to offer if you are selling a car. You have the choice of 5 different sized advertisment spots. They are as follows: -Economy spot which is what is known as the budget advert with a photo of your vehicle and a 25 word description. -Standard spot which has a larger photo and a 40 word description. -Standard spot plus which is also known as the triple spot(3 times the size of the economy spot) with a large photo and a 50 word description. -King spot which is for advertising something special with an impressive photo and a 65 word description. -Emperor spot which really is for that very very special something in your life which breaks your heart to sell it. It includes a huge dominant photo and an 80 word description. As you can see you have alot of choice as to what size advert you want, the bigger the better but you have to take into account the price and how long you want to advertise it for. The prices start of fairly reasonable but can get quite expensive as you near the emperor spot. The prices start from £24 upto £114 for a 1 week advert. And from £48 upto £228 for a 3 week advert. You get a better bargain by going for the 3 week advert because it is a 3 for 2 offer, and has an added bonus because if you sell your car before 2pm on the sunday of the first week you can phone Auto Trader and they will refund the money for your 2nd week. Is that a good deal or what! They
also offer cheaper advertising prices for what they call bargain cars(anything under £1000) The prices start at £12 going up to £72 for 1 week. And £24 going up to £144 for 2 weeks. They do not offer the 3 for 2 deal on a bargain advert. In the back of the magazine there is a list of phone numbers showing the areas that each representative covers. If you phone your nearest one before 10am they try to get out to you the same day to photograph your car. If its after this time then they try to get to you the next day as my one did. Auto Trader comes out every Thursday so if you want your car in the next issue you must get it sorted out on the monday of that week or else your car won't be published until the next issue a week later. If your car appears in the magazine it also appears free of charge on the internet on their website: www.autotrader.co.uk They don't just sell cars they sell 4x4's , motor bikes , vans and trucks , vehicle accessories and a wide range of number plates. I was so pleased with the service I recieved from this company. The representative was so friendly, effecient and very helpful and took a wonderful photo of our car. I will definately use them again when it comes to selling a car. I highly recommend them to all you people out there wanting to make a sale and i'm sure you will be just as pleased as I am.
