... "classical" music outlets and those that exist are very expensive - a Naxos cd costs over 10 pounds, for instance. So BBC Music magazine and its cd have provided just what I wanted. As such, a subsciption can also make a much appreciated birthday or Christmas gift. My motive in filing this is purely personal... I have subscribed to BBC Music magazine for several years, from just after it started. I look upon it as a cd with a free magazine attached. Over the years, the cds have built up to form a mainstay of what has become quite a large collection. The main attraction is the CD which comes with each issue and the policy here is to present complete works, not excerpts, and since its launch in September 1992, this means that the collection has grown to over 100 CD's, a handsome collection on its own. I won't pretend I like everything they include on these CD's but I have equally found myself listening to a great deal of music that might otherwise have passed me by. They generally tread just to one side of the popular repertoire but this doesn't mean they ...
