Advantages: Encourages children to read

Disadvantages: Lots of toy adverts

My 7 year old son absolutely adores this comic. He gets really absorbed in it. I recently 'borrowed' a copy to see what was so fascinating and to my delight discovered that a lot of the old characters were still there. Dennis is still getting up to mischief with Gnasher and the Bash Street Kids still rule. It is packed with comic strips, a readers page and advertisments.

It is also topical, a recent issue covered 'Who wants to be a millionare?' which my lad found hysterical. There is also a Beano Club which looks good value for money, with lots of goodies, and a t-shirt.

From my recent experience, The Beano is as good as it ever was.
