Heat Magazine
by tay10r
Heat has always been a favourite magazine of mine and I love nothing more than settling down on the sofa with a hot chocolate and reading all the new celebrity gossip. It's a great way to distract yourself from all the disasters throughout the world we're flooded with on a day to say basis, and instead be involved in a world of beauty ... and fashion tips, and of corse, the gossip.
The magazine is available from a variety of places including leading supermarkets, the co-op and cosmetic stores such as boots and super drug. The magazine is usually £1.65, but there are sometimes sales where you can get the magazine for just a pound (this particular deal I saw was in Tesco's).
Inside the magazine you will find news about celebrities along with interviews. There are film, book and songs reviews also, which is helpful if you are unsure on what you want to start reading/watching next! There is weeks tv guide, horoscopes, crosswords and quizzes where you can win prizes. You can also email into heat, about what you've seen in the magazine. Sending in the best email can win you prizes and your email will be put in the next edition of heat.
You can subscribe for £5 a month. This would save you £24.15 a year if you buy heat every week. You also often get different freebies when you subscribe (I got a St Tropez when I subscribed - worth £26!)
Granted the magazine won't be everyone's idea of interesting. If you're more interested in politics and not in celebrity gossip or tips on fashion and beauty than this isn't the magazine for you. Full of light hearted gossip, there's definitely nothing too serious!
The bad thing I would say is the amount of adverts. The last copy of heat I got I was interested to know how many pages out of the 138 was taken up by there adverts, there were 37 pages taken up which doesn't include the smaller adverts hidden on some of the pages. There is however still so much to read through it doesn't seem to make too much of a difference, its just a shame that nearly 40 pages are taken up.
Overall I LOVE this magazine and I would recommend it too everyone that loves fashion, beauty and is interested in celebrities. It's a great price and an even better one if you subscribe. It involves the readers by taking poles, and by asking for emails and pictures to be sent in. Brilliant magazine - the best on the market! Read the complete review |

SAGA Magazine
by Rob183
This was advertised as a great Mothers day present (10 March) and was purchased as such, 2 March.
The advertised free welcome gift came to me but had no gift card enclosed as advertised. I queried this but told the assistant that the card didn't matter as long as the monthly magazine went to the correct address. She assured ... me that it would be and the first magazine would be delivered end March, beginning of April.
I queried this 26 April as nothing had been delivered and received an apology that the first issue must have gone astray. I was assured that another would be posted out immediately and should arrive within a few days.
There has been no delivery as yet and it is now 11 May. This makes it look like I have ignored which is a fairly important date in my calendar!
I have used other magazine subscriptions as gifts in the past with no problems but this is my first dealings with this magazine. It will be my only one. Read the complete review |

Inside Soap - Magazine
by Poppycat123
My week would not be the same without my Tuesday serving of all the latest soap and television gossip! Inside Soap is a handy, 100 page (approximately), television guide and magazine in one. It is reasonably priced at £1.60 and is widely available from most supermarkets, newsagents etc.
I absolutely love to watch television soap ... operas but as a busy mum of three it is inevitable I will miss whole or partial episodes here and there. Inside Soap allows me to keep in touch with all the action and to catch up on any major news I may have missed.
The cover is bright and enticing with lots of "teasers" to get your attention. The over all layout is simple and appealing, with lots of articles in words and pictures. The magazine seems to be able to get all the latest information, some of it exclusively.
The seven day television guide, which is included, is clear, concise and very useful. It also includes a very wide range of channels.
The magazine hosts several regular features at the back. These include a fun, double page puzzle section, short book, film and dvd reviews, a readers' letters section and horoscopes. Read the complete review |
