Advantages: Weird, Fascinating

Disadvantages: May be too shocking for some

Bizarre magazine is all about freaky, unusual, shocking, strange, and, as its name suggests, bizarre things, that are happening all over the world.

The first thing you'll notice about this magazine is a scantily-clad young beauty on the cover. Yes, sex sells, and this probably makes us men more likely to buy the mag (with the knowledge that the same lass will appear inside the magazine with her clothes off)!

The highlight of this magazine are the photographs - sometimes strangely funny, often disturbingly sick. Some examples of the Bizarre Gallery include:

Mental Floss - a man with snakes threaded up his nostrils and out of his mouth.
Bad Vibrations - an xray of a large 'foreign object' stuck up someone's back passage.
Nasty Scrapes - Israeli investigations collecting the human remains of a suicide bomber (particularly sick).
Paws For Thought - a photo of a kitten born with 8 legs and 2 tails.
Nasty Claws In The Contract - two roosters with small knives attached to their spurs, fighting until death.
(Not) Dying For A Kebab - a 20 stone man impaled by a wooden fence post.

There are many regular sections to the magazine:

**- Letters -**
Readers letters where the best one each month wins a bottle of absinthe.

**- Bulletin -**
A kind of current affairs section detailing strange things that are happening, or planned, as well as the latest unusual merchandise for sale. Everything from limited edition Fidel Castro dolls to Indian Rural Olympics where farmers drive tractors over each other.

This section also includes 'dopescope' where readers send in photos of themselves smoking cannabis in various poses.

**- Competitions -**
Some great prizes available, like portable DVD players

**- Music -**
Freaky fringe music reviews

**- Visuals -**
This section has TV and Movie reviews of sick, disturbed or unusual material. Wher
e else would you find a review and screenshots of an Italian film called 'Nightmare In a Damaged Brain' ??

**- Bytes -**
Computer and video console games reviews.

**- Bizarre Sealed Section -**
Contains reviews of adult movies, and loads and loads of advertisements of the type you'd normally find in top-shelf magazines (allegedly). These few pages come individually sealed and you have to tear along the perforations to view them, which protects innocent minds like my own.

**- Ask Bizarre -**
Here, you can pose questions to which you've always wanted to know the answer. Experts and celebrity panellists give their interpretations of the answers. For example, someone asked the question: "How much force would it take for me to pull someone's arm off; not just out of the socket, but totally remove it from the torso?"

**- Classic Viz Cartoons -**
A new regular section which has only just started over the past couple of months where you get a page of, as the section suggests, a Viz cartoon.

**- John Hind's Bizarre Fifteen -**
Always appears on the last page. A topic is chosen and then 15 bizarre examples from around the world are given. This section has been on topics such as Insect Upsets, Underwear Outrages and Builders Blues.

As if all that wasn't enough, there are many, many features in each months magazine. The current issue has articles on voodoo, graffiti, dominatrix diary, how to start your own sex cult, sick films from Spain and their lack of censorship, as well as much more.

The magazine is always 136 pages long, and is full of glossy detailed pictures, with a good mix of interesting text. It provides many hours of entertainment. The current price of Bizarre is £3.10. ou get a free set of 4 tequilla glasses worth £5.99.
