Advantages: It's funny!, Thought provoking
Disadvantages: Dead gory at times, Your Granny might not like it!
I first read Bizarre Magazine whilst standing in the queue in my local newsagents about 18 months ago, and my first impression was 'Oh My God!!!!' It's certainly no 'Womans Own'! It's sold under the guise of a 'Mens Magazine', but I'm a 29 year old female, and I have bought Bizarre every month since I first picked it up that day. My husband will occaisionally flick through it, but he says it's not his cup of tea. It's basically the type of magazine your Mother would take away from you if she knew you were reading.....it's exactly what the title implies....Bizarre. It's full of strange and weird stories and articles and photographs, some of them downright scary, some of them thought provoking, some rather raunchy, all of them totally out of the ordinary. There are often articles and stories which one might term 'gruesome' or 'disturbing'; articles on serial killers, photographs of medical oddities, a very strange letters page, and as for the Agony Aunt.....well! The magazine is issued monthly and costs £2.95. I have to buy it in 'Asda' now, as our local newsagent won't stock it anymore! I'm probably not the type of person you would expect to read this magazine, if you met me (sensible Mum of four), then looked at a copy of Bizarre, but I find it's really interesting, a walk on the wild side that is guaranteed to make me giggle. And who says just because I'm a Mummy that I have to read articles baking and dressmaking?? YOu can keep your 'Womans Own'...I'll be sticking with Bizarre!
