Advantages: A bit different. Funny. Good value for money. No clothes adverts.

Disadvantages: Can offend (could be an advantage). Sometimes a victim of laddish mag culture.

How much do you know about the world around you?

Probably a lot less than you think.

Bizarre magazine has been in circulation a couple of years now, following an opening ceremony which involved flinging cars, pianos and dead cows using a medievil trebuchet (catapult), and provides its readers with the opportunity to take a peek at the more obscure things in life.

The magazine has toned down from the early issues, which were likely to contain some quite disturbing stuff. Happily though current issues are still able to open the eyes of even the most ardent cynic.

A typical issue will contain images of the strange (from Indian fakirs to natural phenomena, two-headed cats to just plain silly things), tales of oddities from around the world, some articles on...anything (celebrity crocodiles, corsets, nudity and censorship have all been covered lately) and reviews on the latest music and films. All with a sense of humour and irony.

Although considered by some to be a 'lads' mag, Bizarre is more suited to both male and female readers, and generally retains a high standard despite the flagging styles of other periodicals. Loaded has become a victim of its own extreme laddism, and titles like Maxim and FHM appear to be little more than underwear catalogues (who also steal a fair amount of content from Bizarre! - FHM I mean, not underwear catalogues).

If you want something different to read, something to amaze you, or just soemthing wierd, check out Bizarre. You will be entertained, awed and offended in equal measure.
