The European edition of Business Week is published weekly and sells at £2.20. On subscription though this cost is much reduced.
The contents are split in terms of a geographic split and also by the area of business involved such as finance or IT.
In the geographic split you will find sections on European business, American, Latin American and Asian news. In the economic section there is an analysis of the current trends in business throughout the world as well as topics with the finance sector such as banking, exchange rates and stockbroking. Additionally there are articles on government impacts on the economy as well as a weekly in-depth review at one the world's largest companies.
Whilst it is very thorough and it has to be said you do have to have a reasonable interest and possibly knowledge of economics and business to find the articles interesting or informative. It is not a magazine for the layman and is not written in a simple way. Business Week seems to take the week's main issues and distil them into a single edition. The analysis of trends in fiscal policy or economic growth is well defined and clear. The magazine does give a detailed resume of individual countries' economic prospects.
A recent issue had a fascinating article on Toys'R'Us which detailed their history, growth and the reasons for their recent problems. It was well-written and researched and showed how the management methods employed are expected to turn the business round.
Business Week is a good magazine but not one which you would perhaps wish to read every week. The company I work for subscribes to it each week and I probably only read 1 in 5 issues and then only selected articles. When I do get the opportunity to read it I find it always worthwhile.
