Sabrina the Teenage Witch:
... you re seven years old and taking a trip to the dentist, it s not exactly the most thrilling of experiences. It s not as if you can give a child a sweet to cheer them up either - that really would not go down well with the dentist! Now I am personally not a believer in giving children toys and gifts just to keep them happy - some things like trips to the doctor s or the dentist s just has to be done, and no rewa... Bob the Builder Magazine ... bought the current Bob the Builder magazine for my son Ryan recently. He sifts through every magazine available and it normally comes down to one of two things; best toy or most stickers. He loves Bob anyway and the fact that this one had a tape measure as the free gift swung it. Price £1.99, pretty average in this genre, a small price to pay though for a good few hours fun. Free Gift The measuring tape is a big hit, 2 weeks later he is still measuring the length of Dad`s nose and Dad`s arm (Dad`s nose is 23, 25 by the way and his arm is 21,24!) Content All of the usual characters are included at some point in the magazine, Ryan`s favourites are Scoop and Spud. There... Read the full review: Bob Saves The Day by neildey |

CBeebies BBC Weekly ... I pick my 3 year old son up for my "shared care" the first words that come out of his mouth are "I missed you Dad: Can we buy a book today". As I haven`t seen him for 7 days at this point I always feel that I have to oblige. Thus, the last magazine I bought for him happened to be CBeebies weekly. It looks like all the other pre-school comics with the glossy front cover and bright colours, the unerringly rubbish free gift and the £1.95 to £2.95 price tag. Let`s look a little closer and see how this book performs. Price £1.99. This is at the lower end of the scale for kids mags so this gets a thumbs up from me on that score. Free Gift On this ... Thomas & Friends ... is the latest mag I treated my 2 year old to, and once again it drove me mad with just how poor it was! For £2.35, you get a short magazine that contains three drawings to colour in, two short stories and a couple of pages of puzzles. There are also free toys (this issue has a whistle and a microphone), and stickers in the middle to stick on the centre pages. Well, Thomas is always popular, and it is nice to see lots of different characters pictured in the mag. The drawings are (as you would expect) an excellent likeness too. My son was overjoyed just to see them! The free toys were basic, made out of plastic and the microphone was just a tube really - not great. ...
