Advantages: The food related pages!
Disadvantages: Not enough detail on digital channels in the tv guide
This is my favourite weekly magazine. I buy a couple of magazines every week and my sister and mum also buy some weekly ones but this is my favourite one. I think it has a combination of all the things I like to read about the most.
The main theme which is covered throughout this magazine is diets and food related articles. They also cover all the usual things you would find in weekly magazine aimed at young women but they also feature a lot on diets. Closer actually run their own diet program which you can access online and follow and they always give adverts for it in the magazine and offer small highlights from doing the diet and recipes etc.
I love my food so this is a great magazine for me! They cover articles about celebrity diets and you can see what they eat in a typical day and there is also a weekly feature on what celebs have in their fridges. They show a picture of a fridge and put all the food they have in their fridge at home in it with a shopping list by the side. There is a small interview with the celebrity asking them about their eating and food shopping habits and then a summary by a food nutritionist marking their diet out of ten. It's good to get the nutritionists advice on what's good to eat and what is not.
I enjoy the columns by Gemma Collins and Carol McGiffin as coincidentally they are my favourite TOWIE and Loose Women ladies. Gemma discusses what she's been up to in her life and comments on her dates and diets. Carol talks more about current affairs and the news and offers her (sometimes) controversial opinions on things. There are several quizzes to do towards the end of the magazine. I generally do the Sudoku quiz but I'm not a fan of Spot the Difference so never do that.
The last section of the magazine is a TV guide for the following week. It is laid out clearly enough but there aren't that many details for digital channels, only really terrestrial channels 1-5. I do like the little comments on each page of the TV Guide where they give small facts about tv shows or actors - always insightful! A great read in general.
Summary: A great magazine, especially for people who like to read about celebrities and diets!
