Closer

Description: A glossy women's magazine with real life stories and celebrity gossip.

Newest Review: ... the magazine are truly awful, one measly page for DVDs, cinema, books and music, so most of us ciao'ers could probably give ... more

... them a run for their money when it comes to the arts. All in all, Closer is a great magazine, if you don't expect too much from it. Salacious gossip and cheesy stories are aplenty, but thought-provoking reviews and articles are few and far between. You get what you pay for. While most of the other gossip magazines are priced at a pound (bar Heat at 55p more), with a TV guide and puzzles, this one is the best on the market. This review is also posted on ciao...more

Premium Review Closer's Price is Right (859 words)

Rating:

Closer magazine is not an intelligent read by any means, which maybe why I enjoy it so much. I buy this magazine most weeks, because it is better value than most other magazines of its type, and at £1, I really do think you get what you pay for! This issue came out on Tuesday 25th October, which is when I bought it, from the shop at my workplace. The magazine comes out every Tuesday, and is available in most newsagents and supermarkets. It is easily identifiable, thanks (or no thanks) to the neon pink cover, with neon orange bits adorning it. The tacky cover really does go with the majority of the content. Closer has been nominated 'magazine of the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Closer To Reality (1334 words)

Rating:

Ever since Hello! hit the shelves in the early nineties everyone seems to be going mad for celebirty gossip. When Ok! followed we were equally as mad about them, and when Heat! arrived in the late nineties it seemed everyone had a favourite. In 2002 a new magazine hit the shelves. I remember - distinctly - the day it came out and I actually bought the first issue. It was different to all the other mags, because not only did Closer (the magazine in hand) have info on all the latest celebrity gossip, but it also had true life stories about real people. It seemed there was another firm favourite around, but could it beat it's competetors to get to that hot ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Closer to the Nitty Gritty (1159 words)

Can you remember the days when your Mother and Grandmother bought magazines each week. In our household, there was always a copy of either ?Woman?, ?Woman?s Own?, or ?Women?s Weekly? laying around. They used to seem so boring, and I could never understand why on earth my Mum wasted her money. I do enjoy reading magazines, now I?m older, but find I go in fits and starts, and can sometimes go months without buying, only to then have a binge on light reading for the next couple of months. For the past few weeks, I have been buying ?Closer?. The magazine deals with celebrity gossip and also human interest stories, rather than magazines such as ?Take a ...  Read the complete review
