Advantages: It's brilliant
Disadvantages: Far too many cosmetic surgery adverts
I do like a good magazine but isn't it hard to find a really good one you can read from cover to cover? Me I like a mix of celeb gossip, shopping ideas (of stuff in my price range that doesn't depress me like Vogue does lol) and of real life dramas. I don't want a magazine full to the brim on celeb gossip and I hate real life mags too I simply want a big mix of everything and not too high brow either I look like a snob and in actual fact I haven't got a clue what I'm reading! However I'm not brain dead either and need some stimulation lol
At £2.00 an issue (this month it was a pound on offer) compared to many magazines of this caliber it's cheap which is why when I picked it up and bought it I thought it would bore me to death but to be honest I'd read most of the others on sale and I needed a fix for my next bath lol !
The front of the magazine tells me in big capital letters what it is which is a magazine called Company of course! It's obviously a monthly magazine telling me the month and year on the cover. Then all over the front I'm told snippits of whats in the magazine so I can see at a glance whether it's for me or not.
Opening the magazine there is a content page, all very well laid out so at a glance I can pop to the page I want. Then there is an 'editors' page and the editor is Victoria telling me a bit about the issue and this months theme (February, even though it is still January lol) is a music based one. Then I'm given a list and photographs of the people who contribute to the magazine the most and then a full written list of every single contributor to the magazine is given. There is also a 'letter' page from readers who have took the time to write in to pass comments about previous articles and features from past magazines.
The Features....
Lots of advertisements adorn the magazine but these are high street (and quite affordable) priced products. Max Factor, Pantene, Aussie, Herbal Essences, Maybelline, No7 (among a few) all advertise here along with only a couple of more expensive brads like Armani and Ford cars but still no Prada lol Like I say I find the adverts to be really helpful and I don't sit thinking oh how I wish I could afford this stuff which I really do like!
Along with the adverts there are lots of pieces on sort of must have products. An example of this is there is one article on undies and as expected sure there are a couple of more expensive sets on show but they can all be bought on the high street and there are cheaper options for us watching our pennies. There is another article on make up and again there is a look achieved and your told how to achieve it and as now expected sure make up items shown are at most expensive £12.00 right down to £2.49! Yep I'm loving this mag!
There are a lot of real life articles. One celeb pouring her heart out in an in depth interview as to be expected and then articles on loving your body, the best support pants (lol) binge drinking, tanning addictions, a how I found love article with again people telling you their secrets to finding their perfect partner, then there is a big music section about how to be the perfect rock chick and the people within the industry giving you the inside gossip, then quite a big sex section of how to achieve the best orgasm which is actually a few pages stuck together that you have to tear open (ha ha) for (security reasons of course) and within them pages women talking about their sex toys and talking about masturbation. ok I have to admit I blushed slightly but read every word and I'm now more liberated than ever lol. Then there are alot of fashion pages and again high street shops have got in here and highly feature with dresses for £14.00 being advertised from Peacocks, River Island advertise here as do Asos and nothing is above £120 and that's for a French Connection Leather Jacket! There's a superb guide to hair here with lovely photos and top tips on how to achieve a style easily and a really nice skin care section and from what I understand this is the usual type of format for this magazine. There is a travel section, health section, stars are in here, at the back of the magazine there is a classified section and lots of advertisements for cosmetic surgery. It's a really good mix of articles and in normal language so it doesn't all hurt the brain!
This 168 page (in this issue) magazine is truly superb. It isn't pretentious and hard to read at all. It isn't jam packed with pointless celeb interviews or with unaffordable things advertised. If I want to achieve a look, say I see an outfit I really want I know it's achievable and I love that about it. I like the layout, the photographs and the magazine has a nice fun feel to it. I feel this magazine to be appealing to women in their 30's as well (me lol). The models arnt stick thin, the looks are not aimed at skinny 16 year olds and it isn't all doom and gloom! I love this magazine and finally have found a magazine that every article interests me in!
Summary: A stomping good read!
