Advantages: Up to date news and reviews
Disadvantages: Too many adverts hiding the jewels
I am not a computer nerd, I do not understand computers a great deal. However, I do like to know the general trends and latest news. This is where Computer shopper comes in. They have kept me abreast with what is happening. I read the news and drool over the latest technology. I do not read in great depth the lab reports unless I am really looking for something specific. Even so, they are useful when you do - a new printer, a scanner, sound cards. What I did like was being kept up to date with what was happening to the internet. My ISP tried to tell me they were great value and that they were doing their best. As a computer shopper reader I got to know what was really happening and saw through the flannel. Thus out goes the ISP and I have traded for a new provider. Being informed by a third party is important - they have no axes to grind and no vested interest. The cost of the mag is great. It is even better through subscription. The main problem is the layout. I do not read the adverts much ( which is the mags main income source) and it is difficult to find the articles at times buried amongst them. Other than that, great mag, keep up the good work editorial team.
