Advantages: Informative, Detailed analysis
Disadvantages: Packed full of adverts
I started buying computer shopper 4 years ago when I started putting together my first PC. It looked to offer value with so many pages in it and was priced at £2.25 which I thought was a bargain. The name computer shopper I recognised from years ago when I had an amiga. This magazine would be alongside it, and from this alone I recognised Shopper as some sort of authority on PCs. News is bang-up-to-date and there is few pages every month telling you of pending changes and possible new products in the IT field. The reviews on hardware I have found to be reliable every time. They are informative and up-to-date which of course is crucial with PCs. Every time Ive gone through a stage of upgrade with my PC the first thing Id purchase would be a copy of Computer Shopper. The magazine itself is dotted with system test and hardware tests which are easy to read and very informative. When I say dotted I a mean dotted between the massive amount of adverts found in this magazine. It contains adverts for alot of wellknown useful companies and I have to say the prices are competitive. The magazine will also include a limited amount of software reviews at the back and seperate sections for other platforms such as Amiga, Atari and Acorn. They have a well presented website which tells you the latest news and informs you about how to do things like install a video card or make my PC healthy. In order to use the website you have to sign in with a username and a password(get that little black book out again). I still think this magazine is second to none at the moment for general computing news and information. If your not bothered by too many adverts or like to compare prices then this is definately worth considering The magazine has risen in price recently
